Choroideremia and the Fight against Blindness

How the Choroideremia Research Foundation is saving sight

The futur looks bright!

I have Choroideremia or CHM which is a genetic eye disorder that effects thousands of people world wide. It is one of many such genetic or hereditary eye disorders carried down through the generations. In my own case I have had CHM for almost 30 yrs and still retain some sight but eventualy I like others will go Blind. A sobering concept for anyone.

BUT over the past few yrs a not for profit organization in the United States called the "Choroideremia Research Foundation" or CRF has been funding research into a gene therapy for CHF. With enough money they can run human clinical trials within 2 short years. Trials on mice has proved successful and the next step awaits.

Being not for profit the CRF relies on the fund-raising efforts of people like myself and donations made to the foundation. There is a long way to go and EVERY CENT HELPS.

Cheers
