Hey Gary!

I have travelled in Mexico for 20+ years, and I think you must love Mexico like I do. I must say you have an unparalleled way of observing and presenting Mexico to the world through words and pictures here at myopera. The pictures of "el DF" make me say "oh man, beautiful!" over and over. What a nice place you have created here.

Gracias to you both! You know, I started this blog almost two years ago to keep myself amused, my friends and family up to date and as an online record, just as I mentioned above.

But it makes it all the more worthwhile when I get other people, complete strangers interested. I have kind of turned into an unofficial Mexico promoter of sorts - it's such a great country, despite the obvious frustrations that come with living in a strange land less developed than your own, that I feel compelled to share it.

Sorry if anyone's not liked the adverts I've been posting of late, which will go soon, but on my wages I need the extra cash! And anyway, it's in keeping with the theme of the site - the whole blog is, after all, one big advert for Mexico!

PS. You're all invited to come climb Volcan Izta later this year! Have you done that yet Slack?

Heyyy! No, I've never climbed the Volcan Izta. I'm in ok shape, but that thing looks too tall for me! Teotihuacán is the best I can do for climbing, and even being at the top of that makes me freak out a little. As I've gotten older, my visits to the area have gotten more tame. Years ago I always had to root out the wildest discos there. Now I usually sample a LOT of food, see a show, and do a lot of museum browsing. Even sitting in a plaza doing nothing can be great in Mex. City. In 15 minutes you'll probably hear a dozen different languages as people walk by.

It's a fascinating place, and you're doing a great job capturing the uniqueness of it in your blog. All your pics are great. I especially loved the skating ones and the protesters.

Wimp! It's only a 5 to 8 hour walk!

But yeah, the altitude is something - it defeats quite a few people apparently. Still, I'm determined to give it a go this year!

Excellent, seriously evocative photos taken. I am very impressed, if I do say so myself. Keep taking photos like these and who knows, it may become a career worth pursuing.
