Once again Melbourne is the first race of the 2009 Formula 1 season. Moreover it's back on the BBC. Let's hope they don't balls it up. Martin Brundle is there at least, so I hope they have the the good sense to take his vast experience into account. No doubt, he's being paid enough.

With all the usual internal politics well underway and dominating the headlines, let's hope, at least, we have a good first race. Are you getting excited yet?

A blinding race! :eyes:

"Lewis Hamilton has made history by winning the Formula One world title despite finishing fifth in the Brazilian Grand Prix. The McLaren driver appeared to lose his chance when he slipped down to sixth place with three laps to go in wet conditions. With his only title rival, Felipe Massa, leading the race, Hamilton had to finish in the first five to become world champion and he moved up a place on the penultimate corner by overtaking Timo Glock. Massa won the race, sparking celebrations in the Ferrari garage where his relatives and mechanics believed the Brazilian had clinched the title. But their joy was shortlived because Hamilton came through to win the championship by a single point. Hamilton was in tears as he climbed out of his car and Massa was clearly upset as he stood on the podium at the end of the race."

Baby Alonso Throws A Paddy

An Immature Fernando Alonso Displays His Insecurity To The World

McLaren Driver and current world champion Fernando Alonso's fragile ego reached new heights of shame today in Budapest as he very obviously handicapped his team mate Lewis Hamilton by delaying his departure from the pits in order that he was unable to complete his final qualifying lap. Fernando Alonso the spoilt brat of motor racing proved once more, as he has done time and time again this season, that he is unable to deal with a competitive opponent on a mature and even footed level.

Each new challenge presents Alonso with the opportunity to show his talent on the race track but unfortunately he proved, yet again, that when the going gets tough he simply doesn't have what it takes to beat Lewis Hamilton on track but instead has to resort to an obvious display of insecure selfishness that begs the question, 'Should Mclaren install a driver's creche?'

If you can't compete within the rules, you are a cheat. If you can't succeed on a level playing field it's an admission of failure.

Fernando Alonso is that cheating failure.

Fernando is not an actual baby of course.
Here's our handy comparison to help you out.

Welcome back Murray Walker. Give us more Murray Walker!

, , , ...

Unless I'm very much mistaken this is what Formula 1 should sound like.

Murray Walker returns to the mic for Five Live

Formula One’s legendary voice, Murray Walker will commentate from the European Grand Prix in Germany on 22 July. This is Murray’s first return to a UK commentary box since his retirement in 2001.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/fivelive/programmes/formulaone.shtml

Great commentary as you would expect from Murray Walker today. Makes you remember why you started watching it all those years ago.

However what prick in charge of programming at the BBC with his head stuck up his arse and shit for brains thought, "Murray Walker? We've got Murray Walker commentating for us? Wow man what a coup. You know what would make it even better? During the live broadcast? During the actual race? Cut away to golf. Brilliant. That's how we'll capitalise on this great opportunity. Yeah ITV will be so jealous." FiveLive: What complete and utter cunts. Actually cunt is too good a word for them. Let's settle for lame-jobsworths-lacking-integrity shall we? I think that fair sums it up.

The BBC, for some time now I fear, has been crumbling from the inside under the weight of it's own incompetence. It's not because of this one event that I mention this, but the evidence is everywhere you look inside the BBC now. Apparently no one has the balls these days to say, "I'll show you how it should be done". Soon it shall come to represent nothing but a husk of it's past former glories. I never thought I'd say it but I no longer believe they deserve the licence fee any longer. As much as I hate to resort to such overused colloquialism, the BBC have well and truly lost the plot.
