The examples below were written for Opera version 10.
A revised example for Opera version 11 is on its way.

It's impossible for me to think of Opera's Developer tools without bringing to mind Basil's "Little bet on the gee-gees" and his sending Manuel off to place a bet away from the watchful eye of Sybil. "The name of the horse is Dragonfly, but remember Manuel, Sybil No Know."

Back to Opera's Dragonfly
I wanted to run the app locally rather than from Opera's server, as is usual. I didn't bother looking for any documentation on this because Opera's track record at documenting their browser to any useful degree is considerably inept.

Here then, briefly, is how I achieved it, in case anyone else should wish to follow suit.

dragonfly Download the application from here: https://dragonfly.opera.com/app/core-2-2/zips/
UPDATE: According to the Dragonfly site, the proper Code Repository url is this: http://dragonfly.opera.com/app/zips/ Although at present both files sets match one another.

dragonfly Unzip it somewhere - mine is at C:\Opera\profile\Opera-Dragonfly - and overwrite the default address (URL), https://dragonfly.opera.com/app/ with the location of your local folder. You can achieve this either by editing your operaprefs.ini file directly, or via Opera's own Preferences Editor.

dragonfly The operaprefs.ini method:
[Developer Tools]
Developer Tools URL=

(I've not checked, but one should also be able to use the relative address .\profile\Opera-Dragonfly/client-en.xml for running from USB/Network drives)

dragonfly The Preferences editor method:
Link: opera:config#DeveloperTools|DeveloperToolsURL

dragonfly You might also wish to add a button or two to access it directly:

Reload from cache (text button)
Dragonfly (text button)

Thanks to Ben at 200ok weblog for providing the source of these buttons.

@Pavel:

Have you re-checked that all the setting your changed are absolutely correct, and written in the correct syntax?

Such as: C:/Opera/profile/Opera-Dragonfly/client-en.xml
Instead of:

Or using not using back slashes?

One simple unnoticed typo is enough to do it. It's often something trivial that trips me up.

I don't know why, but I had all setting set well. So I tried download the newest version on
http://dragonfly.opera.com/app/core-2-5/zips/
and it's ok smile

But, you wrote that I have to set Developers Tools URL without ... And i have now URL with and it works and before it i tried URL with and without and didn't work nothing.

And now it works and I'm so happy smile
Thanks to you for all

As I move over to version 11, or 11.1 to be exact, I wanted to know precisely where the latest version of Dragonfly was being served...
