If you ever come to a point when you need to hard format your phone or maybe upgrade to a new firmware, you would like to save the current settings of your phone. So here's how to backup phone settings to MMC.

Menu > Extras > Memory > Options > Backup phone mem.

Once the formatting or upgrading is done, you can then restore back the settings by doing;

Menu > Extras > Memory > Options > Restore from card

In case, you want to format memory card too, still you can preserve the settings. When you create a backup of settings using the above procedure, a file name "backup.arc" is created in a folder named "Backup" in the root of memory card. So, before you format the MMC you simply need to copy this folder to your PC and you can put it back after you have formatted the phone and the MMC.
