How Blue Can You Get, Rita Chiarelli

Stardancer 4. August 2009, 18:49

Great music, Darko. Yours, too, San.

Edward Piercy 4. August 2009, 20:27

The Albert King song is one of my favorite blues songs.

BTW, "Big Rita" took my very last dime. p:

Darko 4. August 2009, 22:24

San, I like that one, I think I heard it once covered by BB King or maybe someone else....

Star, thanks, glad you liked it

Carol,

Graham, thanks; we had a rain today after very hot week and blues "clicked" so good

Ed, this song is one of my favourite too; have you heard it in version that Gary Moore sang? Here:

Nathalya risis 4. August 2009, 22:49

Wow..wonderful..:sing::sing:

K C N Martínez 4. August 2009, 23:23

I didn't grow up with this kind of music. It's most probably wonderful, if you understand what sounds good and what doesn't. In my ears...well, it doesn't sound awesome. :frown: Just a truthful comment.

L2D2 4. August 2009, 23:41

Darko, I saw ZZ Top in concert at Hirsch Coliseum in Shreveport, La. in the 80s. Can't remember if it was Afterburner or Deguello, but I heard them do this song live. They were awesome. I stood right in front of the stage with them about 5 feet away from me. Woot!

Best Southern rock band ever along with .38 Special, CCR and Lynard Skynard.

I wasn't aware of this bit of info, though, that I just found on Wiki: the first two albums, ZZ Top's First Album and Rio Grande Mud, were made at Robin Hood Studios in Tyler, Texas.

Tyler has several studios and many famous bands/singers record here. Tyler is a kind of center for Christian music recording.

Stardancer 5. August 2009, 00:29

I saw ZZTop in concert, too, Linda, with .38 Special. Small world, ain't it?

Edward Piercy 5. August 2009, 00:32

Saw ZZ open for the Rolling Stones, October 1981.

Smaller still! :D

Stardancer 5. August 2009, 00:35

L2D2 5. August 2009, 02:01

Wow! Just goes to show that we have good taste in music Star and Edward. I CANNOT remember who opened for ZZ Top at that concert, but I was late getting there because car broke down just this side of Louisiana line and I had to hitch a ride to the coliseum from the rest stop, then had to find a ride back home afterward. I was determined to get to that concert! You just wouldn't believe what all went on for me to see them.

PainterWoman 5. August 2009, 02:05

Ahhh, The Blues I think is my favorite of the song styles. Loved Albert King's voice. Very smooth. The voice I like best singing the blues is Robert Cray.

Angeliki 5. August 2009, 02:21

a wonderful group of songs Darko
my close frinds know that I can give my soul for "the Blues"
Even in my worse days it can be comfort and make me feel reaxed  thanks! the J.L.Hooker and Santana is my favorite

L2D2 5. August 2009, 02:55

I like Stevie Ray Vaughan for Blues. This is smokin' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWLw7nozO_U

and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMk7MdjXq_A

He made that guitar sing.

Darko 5. August 2009, 05:08

Graham , it was about 37C before the rain started and very humid a susual, so I am happy for anything cooler now :D

Risis, thanks :D

MizzM, every generation has the music they remember through a whole life; I was always listening different kinds of music and even though blues is an old form I`ve found it beautiful; not to mention that it was a root for many later music styles; imagine, rap or electronic music will be everegreen one day :D

Linda, Satr and Ed, you were lucky to watch ZZ Top live; I don`t think they have ever been in my part of the world but BB King was here few times during Summertime music festival in Belgrade until few years ago

Pam, I remember that Robert Cray performance, of course from You Tube :D Thanks for a link.

Angeliki, people think that blues is only about being sad but they are so wrong. This si soul soothing music of all times  It is morning here and I sart my day with a blues; don`t feel sad at all :D

Linda, Lynard Skynard are excellent and that one Sweet Home Alabama is a hit of all times.

As for Steve Ray I like his A Sky Is Crying, too

only  people know that! :D

Angeliki 5. August 2009, 05:16

PS

have a great day!
stay cool

Darko 5. August 2009, 05:21

Thanks I will. It is much cooler here anyway, we will have some rain today :D

K C N Martínez 5. August 2009, 08:48

As always, Darkish...you've got a point!

Darko 5. August 2009, 09:43

Ana 5. August 2009, 17:45

Nice music post! :D

Darko 5. August 2009, 17:57

Thanks Ana :D

Ana 5. August 2009, 18:05

You are welcome

Darko 5. August 2009, 18:22

John Mayer and Eric Clapton - Crossroads
One of the best performances I have ever heard of this famous song.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zh4n1bZi4d8

Also, this one
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ix4TNJvVk8M

Ana 5. August 2009, 18:38

This is even better choice. Really great performances.

Darko 5. August 2009, 19:04

I am glad you like them

Ana 5. August 2009, 20:21

I really do.

Since this is a music post, here is my contribution to it. This time: Ramones, one of my best bands ever. Song Sheena Is A Punk Rocker: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGgfHZ02I2k

L2D2 5. August 2009, 23:53

Dare, both of those were excellent videos. Eric Clapton is just a legend and deservedly so, and John Mayer is great. And that kid! Amazing! With talent like that, hope he doesn't end up being a construction worker.

Darko 6. August 2009, 04:24

Ana, this is a song from my youth

Linda, that would be a waste of a great talent; I think his parents will support him and that one day he will make nice concerts all around the world

L2D2 6. August 2009, 05:14

Hopefully it will work out that way. I have a nephew who had talent like that, as a guitarist and a singer, but he ended up as a jet mechanic because he didn't want to do what it takes to be a professional musician, although he did play professionally for awhile, with a band.

Darko 6. August 2009, 05:23

There is another thing. People usually don`t (or can`t) appreciate what they got from a birth, a gift that they have not to work hard for. Then they just move to something else that makes challenge for them. And they are nothing more than average in it. And true tallent is neglected :frown:

L2D2 6. August 2009, 05:25

I know, Dare. Dennis (my nephew) was just lazy. I thik he smoked too much pot and just didn't want to make the effort. awww

Darko 6. August 2009, 05:29

This is sad :frown:

L2D2 6. August 2009, 06:03

He taught himself to play a 12-string guitar and he had an "Irish tenor" voice that would sing the birds out of the trees.

Darko 6. August 2009, 10:57

Yeah... I guess he wanted something else for him :left:

Suntana 8. August 2009, 20:25

What boggles my mind is that for all his Blues Guitar-playing prowess and fame, BB King cannot play guitar and sing at the same time. :eyes:

The counterpart would be Stevie Ray Vaughn who can play the guitar behind his back AND sing at the same time! :headbang:

Darko 8. August 2009, 21:45

I`ve noticed that too. Well, he may not be capable of "multitasking" but he plays that guitar pretty good :D

Nicolas Borgsmidt 8. August 2009, 22:52

I love them all. Good takes Darko

L2D2 9. August 2009, 04:43

Were you able to watch the Stevie Ray video Chuck? Played that guitar as well behind him as in front. Wow.

Darko 9. August 2009, 05:35

Nik, thank you

Nicolas Borgsmidt 9. August 2009, 08:55

YW

Suntana 9. August 2009, 14:46

A year or 2 ago I saw Stevie Ray Vaughn on that TV Show Austin City Limits. Up until then, I had only heard of his guitar wizardy prowess. When I saw and heard him play, he backed up everything I had heard and then some. At one point, he just started rapidly switching his guitar from in front of him to behind him and playing it wherever it happened to be. I think it'd be quite an achievement switching the guitar around that quickly without injuring ones self ... let alone actually PLAY the guitar in the different positions.

L2D2 9. August 2009, 17:24

My son turned me on to Stevie Ray. He had a lot of his music at one time, and I couldn't help but listen to it. There was amazement that a white guy could sing and play the blues like the folks who originated it in the U.S. Saw a documentary about that on PBS one time. Very good. He died too young.

Suntana 9. August 2009, 22:13

Yep, a tragedy. He was twenty something, right?

L2D2 10. August 2009, 00:03

I think so, Chuck. Not very old at all. Will have to google it.

L2D2 10. August 2009, 00:28

He was in his 30s Chuck. Just finished reading a long and interesting article in Wiki about him. Fender has produced two different guitars as limited editions dedicated to Stevie Ray Vaughan. An avenue in Dallas was named for him, and there is a statue of him on Lady Bird Lake in Austin, Texas. He was killed in a helicopter crash due to pilot error (pilot didnt know the area, it was hazy and foggy, and pilot failed to gain enough altitude to clear a hill in front of the helicopter. All passengers and pilot were killed., including 3 members of Eric Clapton's travel group)

Darko 10. August 2009, 04:20

I didn`t know that. Thanks for info.

L2D2 10. August 2009, 04:23

Something else I didn't know before I read that Wiki article, Dare----Stevie Ray was brother of Jimmie Vaughan who was guitarist with The Fabulous Thunderbirds. I never knew that.
