Walking over sky, following a bird...

Interesting photos from Austria 2008.

In desperate need to find a material to make a new blog post, I searched through some photos I made last year, when I was in Vienna, Austria. Did I mentipon that I have few hundred still unsorted photos from that trip? I did not? Well, now you know. And I have found several ones that I could use to make complete thematic post
Now, just a few of them who unduly remained forgotten for more than a year now.

On my first day of visit it was jazz festival in downtown Vienna. This photo was taken in inner yard of a building near Rathausplatz. Jazz for kids was on the program that day and a stage was set at ground level so kids could come closer to musicians and sing with them. They played Bruder Jakob in several different jazz ways. Unfortunately, I don`t have it recorded. Just click on the photo, I think you will recognize the song :D

An old man was sitting on a bench in front of University of Vienna, looking for something in his brief case. I made that photo holding my camera so he couldn`t notice being photographed. But anyway, he saw me standing there with camera and aproached, started to talk in solid English (did I really looked as a tourist???) asking me how I like being in Vienna, explaining both him and his son were students of University of Vienna and how much he likes walking in this area during summer. He is over 70 years old

In crossroad, in front of Votivkirche. I think I will use it to mark blogs I visited P:

I remember I wanted to use this one when I made a post about Stift Melk and Dürnstein last year. I am not sure why I forgot it. But I am glad I have found it again  A photo was made in Dürnstein, while my friend and me tried to find a restaurant with sachertorte on their menu :chef:

Well, I think you need to go back to Dürnstein and make someone with a hat on walk under that viaduct as a silhouette.

Interesting photos. I like the tired bass player.

Darko 6. September 2009, 08:07

Allan I would like to go there again and to see more of Austria

Guitar player was reading a comics and a singer (real beauty, btw) was cooling her with some folded newspapers :D

Dacotah 6. September 2009, 10:13

WOW, awesome photos Darko.

Smeee-Heeee 6. September 2009, 10:56

Where's the guys face on the top photo? :insane: . I like the second photo very much, and the last one.

The Dark Furie 6. September 2009, 10:59

Wow, look at that red haired dude humping the double bass. :eyes:

Adele 6. September 2009, 11:04

Yeah, a very interesting set! I've never thought of using a musical instrument as a pillow :eyes:

Felix Pleşoianu 6. September 2009, 12:25

You're an exceptional photographer. :eyes:

Mina 6. September 2009, 13:58

They're all beautiful in compisition.. My favorites are the first and the last.

I've always wanted to see Vienna. Such a creative and intelectual mecca.

Very nice.

What other pictures you have sitting around, lonely and forgotten for a spell? :o:

PainterWoman 6. September 2009, 14:12

Darko, these are great pictures. I especially love the two different men sitting in almost the same position. You have captured an aura about them. They are not looking at the camera and are involved in their own little world. I think you ought to do an entire post on people photos.

I like what Allan suggested too and your idea of using the sign as your avatar. That sounds really cute.

Mina 6. September 2009, 14:21

 I finally got around it listening to the song.... Cool that you put the link on the pic like that.

And giggled when I indeed did recognize it. :faint:

San 6. September 2009, 15:25

...I was here moments ago

...now I'm not

r♡se 6. September 2009, 15:34

Good that you went through your photos :D. I like these . Especially the second and last ones.

Darko 6. September 2009, 16:16

Carol, thank you

Kimie, his face and most of the head were covered with some kind of a sock-like hat; or maybe it is an old sock :left:

Mik, you`ve had bad dreams again? P:

Adele, I think the most comfortable one would be piano :D or timpani

Felix, thank you

Mina, I have "discovered" a complete ste I`ve made in an old graveyard; I will need to send some of them to one of my friends to help me translate some of the text from German
If you ever got the chance you should go there

San P: Enjoying your summer holidays?

Rose, thank you. I will check on all of them... well... one day

Pam, I had one post long time ago about people around me... well not on photographs though. Let me find it...

Dacotah 6. September 2009, 16:34

You are welcome Darko.

Smeee-Heeee 6. September 2009, 16:42

Sockhead

Darko 6. September 2009, 16:45

Carol

Darko 6. September 2009, 16:46

 I will call him that from now on :D

Smeee-Heeee 6. September 2009, 17:17

What, Sockhead?

Darko 6. September 2009, 17:32

Yes, the man on the photo :D

L2D2 6. September 2009, 18:07

Darko, I love the photos----especially the last one. Makes me want to walk up that path and see where it leads.

Dacotah 6. September 2009, 18:26

Darko, how are you?

Darko 6. September 2009, 18:30

Thanks Linda  I think it was a passage that led from Danube bank to the center of that village - lots of restaurants and souvenirs shops....

Carol, I am ok, thank you. It is evening here, I will put a dvd in a player and watch a movie I rented today. Some SF named Eden Log

Dacotah 6. September 2009, 18:33

:D

Stardancer 6. September 2009, 18:58

I was just thinking the same thing that Linda said. There's light at the end of that tunnel.

Darko 6. September 2009, 19:10

Yes in troubled, or how they say in China, in "interesting" times, it is good to have a light at the end of a tunnel

dirk 6. September 2009, 19:35

 I like the "old man" the most because of the story behind it ... Vienna has still this amazing aura like only a few cities in Europe have ... I liked it very much some 15 years ago ...

Edward Piercy 6. September 2009, 20:06

The old man with the briedcase was the one that got to me. I spent some minutes trying to figure out what kind of professor he is: Physics? Psychology? Music? Would love to know but never will. An enigma.

As for the performance of Bruder Jakob, well, I think I need a good stiff drink after that one to put my brain cells back in alignment. p:

Darko 6. September 2009, 21:40

Dirk, I visited Wien in 1990. for a first time and just knew I will be back... one day :D

Ed, I think he was some kind of machine engineer... or something similar  That girl in a band sang Bruder Jakob in I think six or seven ways. I know you would enjoy to have listened to her

Graham, I have a long list too

L2D2 6. September 2009, 23:04

Yeah, me too, and it has become much longer since I joined OC! I'd have to be a billionaire to visit all the places I want to go and add about 20 more years to my life than I will get.

Edward Piercy 6. September 2009, 23:58

Maybe he is a machine engineer by day, and a jazz trombonist by night with the long goatee and all?

:D

Edward Piercy 6. September 2009, 23:59

2nd thought: a machine engineer by day, and a sorcerer by night?

p:

Eric 7. September 2009, 02:08

Great post :D If I ever manage to visit Europe one day, I’ll have to include Vienna in my trip. I can’t really pick a favorite photo, I like them all

Darko 7. September 2009, 04:28

Linda, at least we are able to see some photos here  Visit everything is a bit impossible awww

Ed, well, it could be, I didn`t ask too many questions, mostly listened what he was telling me; he seemed to be a nice person

Eric, Vienna is one of those cities where you can "feel" a history - it is all around you

Mira 7. September 2009, 17:31

Darko, great photos! Artistic

Darko 7. September 2009, 17:38

Thank you, Mira  Are you in Belgrade now?

Mira 7. September 2009, 17:56

 Vratila sam se kući. Bila sam na kratko u Bg-u a onda smo išli u jedan drugi grad. Uskoro ću staviti slike pa da vidim da li možeš da pogodiš gde

Mira 7. September 2009, 18:11

There is not better biscuits than Plazma and better chocolate than Najlepše želje  ..and I spent all my reserves :frown:
have to go back for more

Darko 7. September 2009, 19:50

Now you reminded me I haven`t eat Plazma for some time :chef:

Ana 7. September 2009, 20:55

Interesting photos Darko, indeed! I liked the last one most.

Mira, excellent choice! Plazma, Najlepše želje... and not to forget to mention this: http://img264.imageshack.us/img264/3745/eurokrem1kg.jpg Yummy...!

Darko 8. September 2009, 04:26

Thanks Ana

Eurokrem, mmmm... Otvoris ga i obavezno olizes poklopac ili onu aluminijumsku foliju P:

:D

Suntana 8. September 2009, 05:17

Jazz for kids? I wonder what that's like?

You want to team up, Dark? We need to brainwash introduce Peppermint to Jazz. She thinks Jazz sucks.

Darko 8. September 2009, 05:32

She is not the first one to think that, I know a lot of people thinking it is boring.
So, are we going to spam her with some You Tube links?

Suntana 8. September 2009, 05:46

Sounds like a plan! :headbang:
Find one of Al Jarreau. She just LOVES Al Jarreau! :jester:

L2D2 8. September 2009, 05:49

I WILL KILL you, Pumpkin. I don't need a caterwauling cat on my page. You do that and I will fill up your site with so much Bob Seger you will be begging for mercy. Al Jarreau! SUCKS!

L2D2 8. September 2009, 05:49

Most jazz to me sounds like a person speaking in amonotone.

Suntana 8. September 2009, 05:54

But, you love gardens, Peppermint. And Al Jarreau's Roof Garden is spectacular. :headbang:

Caterwauling Cat? Are you referring to the Scatting?

L2D2 8. September 2009, 06:02

Al Jarreau

L2D2 8. September 2009, 06:02

Scat too

Darko 8. September 2009, 07:17
