Walking over sky, following a bird...

Print ads

After making this post I thought there is no print ad that will deserve my attention ever. Obviously, I was wrong.
Here, one that Mik would probably like :D

More of them here :D

Opera was having downtime today so I won`t risk making a big post and then losing it :faint: It can wait for a few days - I must check on a photographs anyway :D

Some interesting ads there.

I've been getting a 502 error just about every time I clink on a link here. :frown:

Darko 14. November 2009, 20:46

San :D I was just thinking to send you PM, haven`t seen you around much lately. I hope you didn`t get flu or something :left:

Felix

Ed, I`ve been getting 502 error for an hour or so, almost gave up. Now I hope everything will be ok

L2D2 14. November 2009, 20:48

First, I couldn't get in to OC---said maintenance going on. Now, I get proxy server errors, and sometimes when I click on a notification, it won't go there, but just hangs.

Darko 14. November 2009, 20:49

Yeah, must be one of those days in Opera Community :left:

r♡se 14. November 2009, 20:55

Adele 14. November 2009, 22:27

LOL! I've actually just got out a cassette player for an old audiobook. I feel like I've gone back to the stone age!

Dacotah 14. November 2009, 23:10

PainterWoman 14. November 2009, 23:36

There's some really good ones there. I like the Zoo Safari one.

L2D2 14. November 2009, 23:40

I have about 100 cassettes, some very good, that I am, reluctantly, giving to Salvation Army, as I no longer own a cassette player.

Angeliki 15. November 2009, 02:12

Dacotah 15. November 2009, 07:08

Hi Darko, how are you?

Darko 15. November 2009, 07:31

Better than yesterday evening. I felt so tired, had two trainings yesterday and the second one was exhausting. 2 hours of aikido. Sometimes I feel as my age is catching me

Dacotah 15. November 2009, 07:31

 :D

Darko 15. November 2009, 07:34

:D

L2D2 15. November 2009, 07:46

Sooner or later middle age imprints itself on our brain pan and we have to acknowledge it. :D

Darko 15. November 2009, 07:51

I am more concerned with my body than my brain - if my mind is damaged, it is not repairable by now

L2D2 15. November 2009, 08:54

Well, I guess that's one way of looking at it---to hell with the brain, keep the body looking good for as long as possible. Brain is expendable. :jester:

Darko 15. November 2009, 09:23

Yes, it has limited longevity

PainterWoman 15. November 2009, 15:04

Darko, I probably have about 50 cassettes too and occasionally will listen to them on my 'boom box'. I forget how old that is.....15 yrs old maybe more. It plays cds too which is cool. I hope it stays working for a long time but I would pay to have it repaired if it ever goes on the blink.

Suntana 15. November 2009, 16:12

WHAT? Am I the only one for whom the Cassette Player is still the main stay, the main staple source of music? I got up right now and went and counted my music CDs. I actually still only have 36 music CDs. And most of those were acquired this year. Beyond that, I'm right there with Peppermint at 100 or more Cassettes. My Isuzu Rodeo still has only a Cassette Player, which isn't working right now. Homer: Doh! Luckily my home Stereo has a Cassette Player in addition to the CD Player.

In my case, to a large extent, I don't have a choice. My Fav music is Tejano. (Mexican Music Texas Style) Most of the Old School music in that genre, you cannot find on CDs even if you wanted to switch over. A lot of those old Record Labels are now defunct and thus NOT putting out CD versions of the Old School music.

Hmmm? Now WHY hasn't anyone thought of manufacturing a Cassette Drive for computers? Someone would make a killing. At the very least a Cassette Drive to connect to the USB Port.

Darko 15. November 2009, 17:25

Pam, I have never heard of boom box. Will have to Google for it :left:

Carlos, have you seen this?
http://www.thinkgeek.com/electronics/digital-conversion/9778/
Your problems with old cassettes are over, you can have them in MP3 :D

Darko 15. November 2009, 17:27

Pam, this is boom box?

PainterWoman 15. November 2009, 17:34

Yes, but mine is lower, longer and more curvy. I'll have to take a photo of it. 'Boom box' was a new expression for the large radios kids used to carry around with them playing very loudly with the bass booming at full impact. This was late in the 80s I think.

Darko 15. November 2009, 17:42

I remember them very well, my friend got a really big one. Like in that scene of Police Academy where that black guy presses the button and it plays "Relax" by Frenky Goes To Holiwood
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPLrXFw76Qg

Suntana 15. November 2009, 17:54

The genuine Boom Boxes are supposed to be around the size of and weight of a Car Engine. :insane:
Yup, try carrying one of THOSE on your shoulder. :yikes:

PainterWoman 15. November 2009, 17:59

OMG that video! :eyes: I never saw Police Academy. Are those scenes from the movie? I always liked the song but never knew who sang it.

PainterWoman 15. November 2009, 18:01

Carlos, I think that's why the fad didn't last long. The kids got tuckered out carrying around those engines.

Suntana 15. November 2009, 18:26

No, Darko, I hadn't seen that. I guess someone else was as bright as me p: and thought of the brilliant idea.
Yay! I'm covered! My problems are over.

Suntana 15. November 2009, 18:29

There are probably a lot of old guys now with bent spines and arthritis from lugging around those Boom Boxes.

L2D2 15. November 2009, 18:34

I bought my son a Sony boombox for Christmas one year and he used that thing for years. After he went to work, he took that thing with him to listen to every day while he was working. I know he used it for at least 10 years, probably longer.

Stardancer 15. November 2009, 20:09

I have, I think, five cassette players around here somewhere. The only CD player I have that works is in my computer.

:D

L2D2 15. November 2009, 20:14

I only have CD player in my computers, no stereo anymore. I have DVD and VCR, but watch DVD movies on my computer also. If my two desktops break down, I am without music or movies.

Mina 15. November 2009, 21:30

Linda, I believe that would be HIGHLY unlikely P:

Darko 16. November 2009, 00:26

Yes, I have only one desktop so I am in more danger than you are Linda :faint: You have a backup system....

P:

L2D2 16. November 2009, 02:54

I have two desktops and a laptop. I want to get rid of the laptop. I don't have a USB adapter for it to use it wireless, and don't want to spend the money to get one for it. Don't much like laptops.

Darko 16. November 2009, 06:22

When I wanted to buy a new computer, I was considering that option, to buy a laptop, but I would not move it anywhere out of home, so I decided to buy a desktop. Got more power and performances for the same money

L2D2 16. November 2009, 06:25

You betcha! I have to use mine wired to modem, so there is no reason for me to keep it.

Darko 16. November 2009, 07:00

Carlos, as for that idea about usb cassette player, I was wondering how it would be possible to transfer some of the songs from a tape to MP3, I guess it would need a sound adapter with input jack and a decent software for recording that. Now every sound card has a microphone jack but finding free software to record it is a bit harder - free stuff are usually with few options and don`t work well - at least it was a case two years ago when I thought about it P: I should reconsider it and try to find cables and software again :D

Star, five of them? Oh my, I think I had two in my entire life and the second one is that one I still have
http://my.opera.com/gdare/blog/2008/03/15/technics

Linda, your laptop have no wireless modem inside of it?
