Ruža crvena/Red Rose

I have that thing with folk songs from coastal part of Croatia. They remind me on a sea, on my youth and my cousins who live there. They remind me on my cousin`s old car and tapes from music festivals we used to listen while travelling. Yesterday, I spent a nice evening in Skadarlija, old bohemic street in Belgrade. My cousin (not the car owner but his elder son) and his wife and few of the friends are members of choir "Jeka Primorja" from Rijeka, Croatia. They were on the way home from a choirs competition in Negotin, in eastern Serbia, making a stop in Belgrade for a dinner. It was a nice opportunity for my brother and me to meet them again and enjoy in talking and laughter, exchanging family news and all the small things that make a family and friendship ties. And songs, of course. Late in the night, they decided to sing a little and let us enjoy in nice songs they have on their repertoire. I`ve made recordings with my camera but sound was bad so I decided to put here a You Tube link another guest made. Despite the fact that it was recorded out in the open, with night street sounds, nearby road works and people talking, it felt nice. I could just imagine how it would sound in a hall or in concert. The song is called Ruža crvena - Red Rose  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7_N3m5CP-k

Ruža crvena
Ružo moja crvena, neubrana ljubavi,
ti si bol jedina, suza moje mladosti.

Recite joj da bez nje
nestale su sve nade ljubavi,
sve tuge radosti,
da je volim još i ne mogu bez nje,
bez ruže crvene.

Prošlo je već godina, neubrana ljubavi,
još si bol jedina, uspomena mladosti.

Recite joj da bez nje
nestale su sve nade ljubavi,
sve tuge radosti,
da je volim još i ne mogu bez nje,
bez ruže crvene

Red Rose
Rose my red, never culled love,
you are pain alone, tear of my youth.

Tell her that without her,
all hopes of love disappeared,
all the sadness of joy,
that I love her still and can`t without her,
without red rose.

Years had passed, never culled love,
you are still pain alone, memory of youth.

Tell her that without her
all hopes of love disappeared,
all the sadness of joy,
that I love her still and can`t without her,
without red rose.

If you are careful observber you could see me sitting there, trying to make decent recording with my camera  If not... well, I was not that important anyway

Interesting photos from Austria 2008.

In desperate need to find a material to make a new blog post, I searched through some photos I made last year, when I was in Vienna, Austria. Did I mentipon that I have few hundred still unsorted photos from that trip? I did not? Well, now you know. And I have found several ones that I could use to make complete thematic post
Now, just a few of them who unduly remained forgotten for more than a year now.

On my first day of visit it was jazz festival in downtown Vienna. This photo was taken in inner yard of a building near Rathausplatz. Jazz for kids was on the program that day and a stage was set at ground level so kids could come closer to musicians and sing with them. They played Bruder Jakob in several different jazz ways. Unfortunately, I don`t have it recorded. Just click on the photo, I think you will recognize the song :D

An old man was sitting on a bench in front of University of Vienna, looking for something in his brief case. I made that photo holding my camera so he couldn`t notice being photographed. But anyway, he saw me standing there with camera and aproached, started to talk in solid English (did I really looked as a tourist???) asking me how I like being in Vienna, explaining both him and his son were students of University of Vienna and how much he likes walking in this area during summer. He is over 70 years old

In crossroad, in front of Votivkirche. I think I will use it to mark blogs I visited P:

I remember I wanted to use this one when I made a post about Stift Melk and Dürnstein last year. I am not sure why I forgot it. But I am glad I have found it again  A photo was made in Dürnstein, while my friend and me tried to find a restaurant with sachertorte on their menu :chef:

Still bored

Yeah. I know I shoud have posted something a week ago but truly have no a single idea :left:
Mostly, I am listening some music and dreaming last few dreams of this summer. Soon, it will be time to face the reality. We will see.
In september everything starts here - school, people are back from holidays, thinking about how to connect all the loose ends and buy new clothes, shoes, books for their kids.
My training season starts in wednesday. No trip to Japan this year, though. Next year. Maybe.
So, if you have nothing better to do, you may leave a comment or just simply leave. This is not much of a post anyway.
Hopefully, I will have something interesting next week

The Lonesome Boatman

by Bobby Sands

In the middle of the sleeping lake
The Lonesome boatman dwells,
Around him rise the bracken hills
The dreamy glens and dells.
The skies are red and rolling
Tinted in the twilight's velvet hue
The ragged scarecrow peers in relief
To where the crackling crows have flown.

The lonesome boatman doesn't move
His clothes are old and worn
Oh, lonesome boatman reveal to me why,
Why you look forlorn.
Is it life's sorrows
Or a forgotten memory that you have found
Or do you listen to the wind
For the boatmen you've seen drown?

Oh, lonesome boatman, there's a gleaming star
High above your head.
The waters glisten in the dusk
Are they tears that you have shed?
Oh, lonesome boatman, the birds are here,
The morning shadows fall.
Oh, friends, why must you be
But a dying shadow on my lonely cell wall.

Health care

Yesterday I saw one of the latest movie made by Micahel Moore, "Sicko". For some of you, who haven`t seen it yet you may do it here.
I have already discussed about this movie with Linda by e-mail and I want to know more. Least to say, it was shocking. And amounts of money mentiond there are just close to impossible, especially for me. My country is poor, people in Serbia has average salary of 350 eur and God only knows when we are going to recover from recent wars and economic sanctions. But... Living in Serbia and experiencing last two decades the way they happened, made me very suspicious toward anything written in newspapers or said on TV. There is no absolute truth and usualy we, ordinary people, don`t have enough information to be certain about important matters. So this is what came as an idea to me: I will let you make this post through comments - you may write about healt care in your country, is it good or bad, what troubles you most, who are you blaming for that, etc, etc, etc.... Also, I would like you to tell me how much from a M. Moore`s movie is a true and what is errr.... bended truth. Under a condition: try not just to say everything in movie is a lie. What I want are the facts not only a plain opinion about movie - it was just a reason I made this post. We live in a world of lot of delusions and don`t need to contribute to that. Truth is always somewhere in between.

Blues time

For a life time

This week was full of events, both on line and in real life. After two weeks of vacation I am back to work; Mik got his phone (eventually  ), Pam became a MOTW :hat: , Carlos celebrates one year in My Opera  , Dirk went to meet Theresia, two of my friends got married.... These last two events made me think.
I wanted to make this post earlier but somehow I was not ready. No, I am not getting married if this is what you think, I was spending some of my time thinking about marriage and having a life with someone. I grew up in traditional surrounding, where institution of marriage was recognized as one of the main goals in everyone`s life. This and children, too, as a purpose of being in this world. Thirty or forty yers ago it was like this: young people finish their education, spend some time fooling around then chose someone to get married and have kids. Just like that. But then, somehow something goes wrong. I guess "chosing someone" part was done lighthartedly, without getting deeper into subject. It is not for month, nor for year, it is for a life time. Some may call me old fashioned and I know, I am aware that world has changed a lot since I was a kid. And to stress one more thing, I am not judging anyone. Probably 60% of my friends, both on line and in real life are divorced, some of them having 3rd marriage behind them :faint: But I like to think about marriage like this is something both parties goes into with a full awarenes and with both feet on a ground. Otherwise, someone is suffering. I have seen in some movie, one of the actors was talking to his friend explaining him that getting married is like standing on the edge of a cliff; you know you have to jump, you are just waiting for a moment to do that. And everything else is just of matter of luck. But I think we all know this is not how things are going in a real life. And then, we have a different kind of celebration P:
I guess, we can`t be sure. You spend ten years with someone and then discover he/she was cheating bastard; or life became the same boring circle and one morning you realise you don`t want to wake up anymore with that person on the other side of the bed. Or, you realise that a choice you made was the best thing you have ever done in your life. There is no universal recipe for being happy with someone; it depends of a too many things that I could even imagine.
Coming back to that cliff and jumping from the edge.... maybe it has to do something with luck. I don`t know. I was never married before.
