JUST THE GUY NEXT DOOR

I like comedy, i really do,visual,verbal or a mix, it makes no difference to me. I happily - no pun intended - leave my television on Star World all the time. I do interupt the relentless comedy with other shows, movies - mostly English - and of course cricket. What i don't get is the never ending, all prevading dominance of "Friends". it was a great show, it dipped in the middle a bit - series 5 & 6 i think - but on the whole it was pretty brilliant. But it was hardly alone and - sticking my neck out here - it was not the funniest show of the nineties either. I give at least two consistently as funny if not funnier shows as examples; "Seinfeld", "Fraiser" or "Everybody Loves Raymond". I'm sure most would agree that all these shows are funny and i'm not disputing "Friends" funniness, but why do they keep showing the damn show? you can get it on dvd! everyone who loves it probably has. The other problem with everybody watching "Friends" is you end up with deja vu conversations - "hey, did you see the Friends last night? it was the one where Joey bought Chandler the gold bracelet! ha ha ha!" f*** off! when i ask if anyone saw "Fraiser" there is a sea of blank faces. There is nothing worse than seeing a comedy on your own! Trying to narrate the funniness of a show is difficult and embarrassing, they could at least interrupt the "Friends" monoply with the also brilliant "Scrubs". Unfortunately the channels own fabulous comedy gems are a little to edgy for early evening television, but Lord save us from more repeats of "Friends"!
