Interesting educational resource from NASA's Nemo project

A friend of mine and NASA astronaut, Ron Garan, who was a former neighbor in my days living near Eglin Air Force Base in Niceville, FL is one of the lucky mission specialists (aka. aquanaut) taking part in the NEEMO 9 mission - an underwater mission taking place at a depth of 19m near Key Largo, Florida. This mission is an interesting International effort that is taking a closer look at the development of remote medical procedures which will be applicable in the future for such applications as operating remotely on astronauts or even providing medical relief in the wake of a disaster or perhaps during war time... think of a doctor thousands of miles away providing the direction to operate a robot which is actually operating and providing emergency medical relief to a patient... amazing! The aquanauts are maintaining weblogs at http://nurc.net/blog/ and you can catch up on the mission via the home page at http://www.uncw.edu/aquarius/index.html -complete with blogs, images, webcam, and news. Be sure to follow the webcam to see the aquanauts hard at work.. this is way cool!
