Autodesk Mapguide at Where 2.0 and props for the City of Nanaimo for distributing data via Google Earth KML

A nice plug today at Where 2.0 for Mapguide, the city of Nanamio (home of yours truly!) and the integration of the city's parcel data/and MapGuide with Google Earth. Robert Bray of Autodesk (Mapguide crew) had 10 minutes to share with us what some people are doing with Mapguide... he also shared with us a short reminder of what the technology is all about. From Bray...
MapGuide is a lot more than just publishing. You get feature selection, query, update, analysis, and a comprehensive API... it’s beyond map publishing! Somme noteworthy features:
Supports Windows and Linux
Develop with .net, Java, php
Supported web services include Microsoft IIS and Apache
Simple authoring without writing code using MapGuide Studio
Regarding the sample app Bray used the efforts of Jason Birch from the City of Nanaimo - here's a local government that has an app enabling residents to see the parcel report and parcels within Google Earth (city data availble via KML) ... data is live and updates come via the city, displayed to users of Google Earth.. nice!
