Cuba, que linda es Cuba!

You can call it whatever you want, but every once in a while I feel proud of being from this lovely country. And sometimes even while browsing the Internet, I accidentally find readings that remind me of these feelings. Ahoracuba.org was the first blog I found to be friendly and honest about this island. Is written by Steven Mansour, who reportedly visited us last summer, and he's currently writing his journal and impressions during his trip.

And what really prompted me to post about it is this small review about an individual journey around Cuba. The genuine hospitality, the friendliness and the honesty offered to these and many other foreign visitors is a live image of what this people is, a live image of what we are. Thanks to all of you for your sincere postings.

Es dificil amar a tu patria cuando la unica gente que tienen derechos de hombres libres son los turistas. Menos mal que ya no vivo en Cuba, porque si viviera ahi no creo que pudiera haber escrito este comentario sin un poco de miedo a ser arrestado. No es asi Ernesto? Buena suerte, y abajo Fidel.

Luis,
me alegra que lográras tu objetivo de no estar en Cuba. Yo por mi parte me siento tan bien aquí, a pesar de todo los inconvenientes que pudieran haber y que de hecho hay. Me siento tanto de este país que creo que nunca pudiera abandonarlo definitivamente.

En cuanto al miedo, lo escribiste sin dar verdaderos elementos de tu identidad personal, aún estando en donde estás. Yo doy más elementos de la mía y escribo todo lo que escribo, aunque también es cierto que no llego a hacer aseveraciones tan extremas como las tuyas. Si escribir aquí como lo hago me va a dar problemas en el futuro, es algo que está por verse aún. Pero lo hago pues me parece bien y me gusta.

De cualquier manera, te deseo suerte y te invito a que leas mi blog si sabes inglés y te interesan los temas de Internet y tecnología en general. Quizás tus comentarios pudieran ayudar al debate. También de vez en cuando tocaré temas relacionados con Cuba, como este mismo post, o hasta temas que relacionen a Cuba con las tecnologías de la información.
