Kochi City consists of the mainland Ernakulam, the islands of Willingdon Bolghatty and Vypeen Fort Cochin and Mattancherry. Kochi The Queen of the Arabian Sea-is one of the most interesting cities of India and has one of the finest natural harbors in the world. The ancient Temples, Churches and Synagogues in this district are of special interest to archeologists and historians. The Chinese fishing nets, the Jewish synagogue the Dutch Palace and the Bolghatty Palace in Cochin enrich the heritage of Kerala.
The Chinese Fishing Nets:
At the entrance of the Cochin harbour these nets are fascinating sight. They can be seen all along the backwater of Kerala. The Chinese traders first brought them to Kerala from Kublai Khan’s court.
Jewish Synagogue:
This synagogue built in 1568 A.D. was destroyed by the Portuguese in 1662 and rebuilt by the Dutch two years after scrolls of Old Testament and a number of Copper Plates inscribed in the Hebrew Script are preserved in this Synagogue. It’s open from 10.00 hrs. to 12.00 hrs. and from 15.00 hrs. to 17.00 hrs. except Saturday and Jewish Holidays.

The capital city of Kerala, Thiruvanathapuram is a district surrounded by the Arabian Sea and the Western Ghats. During the British period and till a few years ago, it was known as Trivandrum, a name that suited the English to pronounce. A quiet, neat and clean city, it has a rich cultural heritage too. Many important cultural institutions, palaces, art galleries, beach. And Shree Padmanabha Swami Temple is located here.
Zoo: It is situated near the Napier Museum and it is one of the best Zoos in south India. It is open from 09.00 hrs to 17.00 hrs except Mondays.
Napier Museum: It has a good collection of bronzes historical ornaments temple Chariots and ivory carvings the museum is open from 10.00 to 17.00 hrs except On Wednesday morning and Monday.
Shree Chithira Art Gallery: This is situated in the Napier Museum grounds. It has a good collection of paintings by Raja Ravi Varma and Roerich, copies of the Rajput Mughals and Tanjore schools of art
and paintings and an Ajantha and Bagh Caves. It includes a collection eastern painting from China, Japan, Tibet and Bali. It is open from 10.00 hrs to 17.00 hrs except on Wednesday morning and Monday.
Shree Padmanabhaswamy Temple: This temple is situated near the city Bus Station at the East Fort, The Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu is the landmark of the city. The Maharaja of Travancore renovated it in 1733. The Temple is a fine Specimen of south India and Dravidian architecture. Non-Hindus are not permitted inside this temple. (Gents should wear white lungi and ladies should have a saree)

Alleppey has a large network of canals and is a center for backwater cruises in Kerala. Alleppey has earned fame in the commercial world as the world’s Chief supplier of coir. The temples of Alleppey represent the Kerala style of Architecture. The Nehru Boat Race, the most colorful of the boat races is held here on the second Saturday of August every year. Alleppey is called as "The Venice of the east”.

Kovalam, meaning "a groove of coconut trees," is just 10 km from the state capital of Kerala- Thiruvanathapuram. Kovalam is actually a combination of three small beaches. Among these, the southernmost beach, named Lighthouse Beach, is the most frequented beach in Kovalam. Earlier this beach of Kovalam was an anglers' paradise. It still has some small villages, just a few kilometers away, which belong to the fishing community. Gradually, this beach of Kovalam has been transformed to a tourist spot of great interest.

Kanyakumari is a place of the confluence of the Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal where one can enjoy the unique experience of watching the sunset and moonrise simultaneously on a
full moon evening Swami Vivekananda the Great Indian philosopher went into contemplation here on a rock off the shore house. On this rock the Vivekananda Rock Memorial stands today.
Vivekananda Rock Memorial : This is on a rocky island projects from The sea about 200 meters from the shoreline. There is ferry service to this island every half hour and the trip takes 15 minutes. It is operated between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. and From 14.00 hrs to 17.00 hrs.
Gandhi Mandapam : The memorial to Mahatma Gandhi is situated near the Temple where his ashes is kept. The architecture the building is such that on 2nd October his birthday sun rays fall directly on the spot where the ashes is kept.

Periyar wild life Sanctuary, popularly known as Thekkady is one of the most important destinations of Indian and Foreign Tourists. The Sanctuary is unique in its location and many other features. It lies in the high mountain ranges, which is a part of the Western Ghats. With its 777 Sq. km. area it is one of the largest sanctuaries in India. In 1895 a Dam was constructed in Periyar River, which was flowing through the lap of the sanctuary. The dam was built over hundred years ago without using cement. The lake encompassed by lush green forest on all sides is a magnificent obsession to millions of Tourists. The first ever-mechanized boat was introduced to the lake in 1930 for the visit of the then Viceroy of India Lord Irvin. The sanctuary is open throughout the year but the best season is from September to May. Entry time 06.00 hrs to 18.00 hrs.
Boat Cruise : Ample opportunity for cruising: A cruise in the lake provides a remarkable view of a variety of Wild Animals and Birds. Elephants, Bison, Spotted deer, Leopard, flying squirrel, Tiger, Stripe necked Mongoose are the commonly seen animals. It abounds in a wide variety of birds also. The forest department and the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation conduct Boat cruises in the artificial lake spread over an area of 25 sq. Km. This is a unique Experience to watch captivating assortment of fauna at close quarters. The forest Department conducts five trips daily. Munnar is a beautiful hill station on the western ghats at about 1600 meters above sea level. The town is situated at the confluence of the three mountain streams Mudrapuzha Nallathanni and Kundala
. There are lake reservoirs forests and several tea estates. Anamudi the highest peak in south India is near to this place. Munnar was the summer resort of the British Government in the south.
Metaputty Dam :
Famous for its highly specialized dairy farm Mattupetty is situated at an elevation of 1700 meters and 13 Kms away from Munnar town. About 100 varieties of high yielding cattle are reared here. A few yards away from this dairy farm are the beautiful Mattupetty Lake & dam. It is a very beautiful picnic spot. The Vast stretch of Kundala tea plantations offers a stunning view of Munnar. The valley here is filled by a beautiful lake called Kundala lake which is also a very Interesting picnic spot. There is an excellent golf course at Kundala.

Kumarakom is an ideal place for backwater cruises. You can also visit Kumarakom Bird sanctuary, which is, situated 12 Kms west of Kottayam on the eastern banks of Vembanad Lake. The Chinese fishing nets, the Jewish synagogue the Dutch Palace and the Bolghatty Palace in Cochin enrich the heritage of Kerala.
The Chinese Fishing Nets:
At the entrance of the Cochin harbour these nets are fascinating sight. They can be seen all along the backwater of Kerala. The Chinese traders first brought them to Kerala from Kublai Khan’s court.
Jewish Synagogue:
This synagogue built in 1568 A.D. was destroyed by the Portuguese in 1662 and rebuilt by the Dutch two years after scrolls of Old Testament and a number of Copper Plates inscribed in the Hebrew Script are preserved in this Synagogue. It’s open from 10.00 hrs. to 12.00 hrs. and from 15.00 hrs. to 17.00 hrs. except Saturday and Jewish Holidays.
Thiruvanathapuram :
The capital city of Kerala, Thiruvanathapuram is a district surrounded by the Arabian Sea and the Western Ghats. During the British period and till a few years ago, it was known as Trivandrum, a name that suited the English to pronounce. A quiet, neat and clean city, it has a rich cultural heritage too. Many important cultural institutions, palaces, art galleries, beach. And Shree Padmanabha Swami Temple is located here.
Zoo: It is situated near the Napier Museum and it is one of the best Zoos in south India. It is open from 09.00 hrs to 17.00 hrs except Mondays.
Napier Museum: It has a good collection of bronzes historical ornaments temple Chariots and ivory carvings the museum is open from 10.00 to 17.00 hrs except On Wednesday morning and Monday.
Shree Chithira Art Gallery: This is situated in the Napier Museum grounds. It has a good collection of paintings by Raja Ravi Varma and Roerich, copies of the Rajput Mughals and Tanjore schools of art
and paintings and an Ajantha and Bagh Caves. It includes a collection eastern painting from China, Japan, Tibet and Bali. It is open from 10.00 hrs to 17.00 hrs except on Wednesday morning and Monday.
Shree Padmanabhaswamy Temple: This temple is situated near the city Bus Station at the East Fort, The Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu is the landmark of the city. The Maharaja of Travancore renovated it in 1733. The Temple is a fine Specimen of south India and Dravidian architecture. Non-Hindus are not permitted inside this temple. (Gents should wear white lungi and ladies should have a saree)
Alleppey :
Alleppey has a large network of canals and is a center for backwater cruises in Kerala. Alleppey has earned fame in the commercial world as the world’s Chief supplier of coir. The temples of Alleppey represent the Kerala style of Architecture. The Nehru Boat Race, the most colorful of the boat races is held here on the second Saturday of August every year. Alleppey is called as "The Venice of the east”.
Kovalam :
Kovalam, meaning "a groove of coconut trees," is just 10 km from the state capital of Kerala- Thiruvanathapuram. Kovalam is actually a combination of three small beaches. Among these, the southernmost beach, named Lighthouse Beach, is the most frequented beach in Kovalam. Earlier this beach of Kovalam was an anglers' paradise. It still has some small villages, just a few kilometers away, which belong to the fishing community. Gradually, this beach of Kovalam has been transformed to a tourist spot of great interest.
Kanyakumari :
Kanyakumari is a place of the confluence of the Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal where one can enjoy the unique experience of watching the sunset and moonrise simultaneously on a
full moon evening Swami Vivekananda the Great Indian philosopher went into contemplation here on a rock off the shore house. On this rock the Vivekananda Rock Memorial stands today.
Vivekananda Rock Memorial : This is on a rocky island projects from The sea about 200 meters from the shoreline. There is ferry service to this island every half hour and the trip takes 15 minutes. It is operated between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. and From 14.00 hrs to 17.00 hrs.
Gandhi Mandapam : The memorial to Mahatma Gandhi is situated near the Temple where his ashes is kept. The architecture the building is such that on 2nd October his birthday sun rays fall directly on the spot where the ashes is kept.
Kanyakumaridevi Temple :This temple dedicated, to Parasakthi the virgin Goddess is located overlooking The sea The place is symbol of unity & sanctity. The temple is open from 04.00 hrs To 12.00 no. & 17.00 hrs to 20.00 hrs. Non Hindus are not allowed into the inner Sanctum.
Thekkady :
Periyar wild life Sanctuary, popularly known as Thekkady is one of the most important destinations of Indian and Foreign Tourists. The Sanctuary is unique in its location and many other features. It lies in the high mountain ranges, which is a part of the Western Ghats. With its 777 Sq. km. area it is one of the largest sanctuaries in India. In 1895 a Dam was constructed in Periyar River, which was flowing through the lap of the sanctuary. The dam was built over hundred years ago without using cement. The lake encompassed by lush green forest on all sides is a magnificent obsession to millions of Tourists. The first ever-mechanized boat was introduced to the lake in 1930 for the visit of the then Viceroy of India Lord Irvin. The sanctuary is open throughout the year but the best season is from September to May. Entry time 06.00 hrs to 18.00 hrs.
Boat Cruise: Ample opportunity for cruising: A cruise in the lake provides a remarkable view of a variety of Wild Animals and Birds. Elephants, Bison, Spotted deer, Leopard, flying squirrel, Tiger, Stripe necked Mongoose are the commonly seen animals. It abounds in a wide variety of birds also. The forest department and the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation conduct Boat cruises in the artificial lake spread over an area of 25 sq. Km. This is a unique Experience to watch captivating assortment of fauna at close quarters. The forest Department conducts five trips daily. The duration of the cruise is 2 hours Boat Tour timings 07.00, 09.30 hrs, 11.30 hrs. 14.00 hrs & 16.00 hrs.
Munnar :
Munnar is a beautiful hill station on the western ghats at about 1600 meters above sea level. The town is situated at the confluence of the three mountain streams Mudrapuzha Nallathanni and Kundala
. There are lake reservoirs forests and several tea estates. Anamudi the highest peak in south India is near to this place. Munnar was the summer resort of the British Government in the south.
Metaputty Dam :
Famous for its highly specialized dairy farm Mattupetty is situated at an elevation of 1700 meters and 13 Kms away from Munnar town. About 100 varieties of high yielding cattle are reared here. A few yards away from this dairy farm are the beautiful Mattupetty Lake & dam. It is a very beautiful picnic spot. The Vast stretch of Kundala tea plantations offers a stunning view of Munnar. The valley here is filled by a beautiful lake called Kundala lake which is also a very Interesting picnic spot. There is an excellent golf course at Kundala.
Kumarakom :
Kumarakom is an ideal place for backwater cruises. You can also visit Kumarakom Bird sanctuary, which is, situated 12 Kms west of Kottayam on the eastern banks of Vembanad Lake. The sanctuary sprawls over an area of 14 acres and domestic bird like water Foul, Cuckoo, Wild Duck etc. are seen here in abundance. Birds like Siberian Storks migrate here every year.
