SHINING LIGHT MINISTRIES

Caring for those who are less fortunate in Jesus name.

Meeting in the park

When I first started going to "Shining Light" I wasn't sure I was going to come again. But by the end of the 3 hour event
which is every Monday night I walked away crying. I was crying for the pain I saw in the eyes of the people who were homeless; who were so needy I was overwhelmed by what I saw. Feeding them food is one thing; giving them hope is another.
Man, I was just wiped out emotionally. That was over a year ago and now I love being with these folks. Some of them are very difficult to deal with but not all of them. We have our few nuckleheads but I guess that comes with every group. Now most of the folks who see me come recognize me and it's not about being recognized it's about reaching out a hand and or a hug to someone who is hurting. All they want is for someone to listen to them to say they care and really mean it.

They can tell if your phony that is one of the strongest traits that a homeless person has and it is the ability to recognize a phony person from a real person who is not patronizing them.

Yesterday was a blast.
