A great soul...

Throughout history, there are many types of people who walked the earth. Most men and women come and go, and they don't leave much of an impact in our lives. There is, however, a handful of souls who left an indelible mark in our lives and edify us in some ways; they challenge us to transcend beyond self. These are leaders I respect- they walk the talk. Their voices echo into the depths of our hearts. They live in our time and suffer like everybody else. They have their share of successes and failures like we do.
Here is one such person, and from time to time, I will ponder on her words of wisdom:

DO IT ANYWAY

People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God;
It was never between you and them anyway.

-Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Weekend in the park...

This year’s SAP Family Day event was held at Pasir Ris Park . The weather was promising- bright and breezy, and the atmosphere at the park was relaxing too. I was excited to work with the kids as I supervised the go-kart race. The kids are definitely excited about it judging by the queue building up since early this morning. A race was planned for the kids and it’s amazing how their faces just light up upon hearing about it. Several kids consistently pestered me, ‘What time is the race? How long do we have to wait?’
Working with ‘little adults’ does take a different approach, and this group has a few ‘tough cookies’ that need special attention in handling them. Overall, it was fun working with them; they have been a good sport throughout. Everyone had a solid time out in the park, including the parents. It's a good thing that company like SAP organizes a family day event to bring the families closer and improving staff relationship.
