Lastpass for opera

, ,

Most people must be familiar with lastpass addon that is available for firefox. It is a very useful addon & since it stores your passwords online, it can work better than opera's inbuilt password manager. Lastpass offers a bookmarklet for browsers that don't have addon support. All you have to do is create an account, store all your passwords directly or by using firefox for a day or 2 and you are done. Now you can log in to any site just by clicking the bookmarklet. The bookmarklet is visible on the site only after you have logged in. So you will have to create an account first.

n.b. If you don't use the bookmarks bar then you can place the bookmarklet on any toolbar, for instance, beside the address bar. Just hold down shift while dragging the bookmark on the toolbar. This works, I've tested it.

3 cheers for Opera mini 5Opera 10.5

Yes, if online synchronisation would be available, it would be as good as last pass

it cant be as good. Lastpass is using all the good security practises especially encrypting password on user side. Using one time password pads. Generating secure passwords, etc etc.

I want opera to support addons or this will be a killer add-on that makes me make a switch after 4 years of using Opera as main browser.

I also started using Ff more after I discovered lastpass, the bookmarklet is not even half as good. Opera may not support addons, but its password manager needs to be bolstered. It may borrow a few features from LastPass, after all, many addons are just copies of opera features, many even have the word opera in their names! So, it wouldn't be unfair if Opera copied one

Internet is about open technologies. It makes more sense to use what's best out there than to roll your own solution. Especially in security world. Security comes by pounding over and again on a software solution. Anything time tested is better than any newly developed solution. I would like to see Opera enable integration with lastpass or similar addons for the sake of loyal users. Please please, pretty please opera smile

Guys, just a note to confirm that I'm in the same situation with Lastpass and Opera. I'm tempted to switch to Opera but the Lastpass addon is so great and easy to use that it always prevent me from switching. The day Lastpass is fully supported by Opera, I'll definitively switch

I really wanna take firefox off my system but cant quite bring myself to yet because of a few little things like the above....OH and the fact MDBG Chinese to English cursor translator wont work on Opera is another BIG BIG down side.
