Tips For Remembering What You Study

, , , , , , ,

You did not sleep just to study the whole night. You read your books everywhere you go or even while eating or traveling. You want to pass your exam and even top it. However, after studying all your notes and lectures, something wrong happens- you can’t remember what you study. That’s an epic failure!

There was a research that concludes that when you try to memorize various types of information, the latest or the second interferes with the ability of your brain to permanently remember the earlier or the first information. This can be really frustrating on your part especially if you have memorized or studied a lot. But you should not give up, there are several tips for remembering what you study. Read on to know more about these.

1. Review and study repeatedly. Repetitions of what you do can help your brain remember all the facts, concepts, ideas, and thoughts. As much as possible, study at the same time and same place. You have to do this everyday. Repetition is the key. Remember Bart Simpson? His teacher made him write sentences repeatedly so that he will remember what to do and not. Thus, if you want to remember something, write and do it repeatedly.

2. Write and speak simultaneously. While you are reading your books or notes, try to write down important terms or a short sample essay and speak them aloud. This increases the chance of remembering all the things you study.

3. Get enough sleep. Do not abuse your body. You are not Superman or Superwoman. Perhaps, you forget what you have studied because your brain is already too tired from thinking. So, get enough sleep and rest.

So just remember these few tips and you are ready to ace your exams!
