Blagden Alley and Naylor Court Jesting

Parking Again

At the Blagden Alley and Naylor Court Association meeting last night, someone brought up the subject of cars being parked on the Pepco lot grass at Massachusetts and Tenth (across from the Henley Park) during the Health Fair, and other weekend shows at the Convention Center. The ground was wet and mud was all over the place, including sidewalks. Also, of course, the grass, or what is left of it, looked like the dickens.

What's happening, of course, is that entrepreneurial types make up a sign promising parking all day for $20.00, or something like that. You (who probably don't know downtown DC well) hand the dude the twenty and park where he tells you. Since the Pepco substation is windowless and impersonal, you imagine it's OK to park there, just as you would back in PG. At a certain point in the day, the "parking attendants" disappear.

Just call 911, and explain the situation. They'll tell the First District guys (3D doesn't cover the Pepco substation if the editor reads this map right. With the extra $35 tickets going to the city, maybe we won't need to raise taxes.

The auto show is coming next weekend, so be on the lookout. Think of it as a grass roots effort.
