Harry Thomas, Jr.

The editor met Harry Thomas, Sr., several times many years ago, usually at City Council related things. He seemed like a decent sort, but not terribly interested in the world beyond Ward 5. And it was legend that there was no Ward funeral unattended by the Councilman during his tenure in office.
The editor understands that his son is not quite the same. About the only encounter the editor has had with him was during the editor's testimony on the new Convention Center Hotel, and the follow up questions. Thomas seemed only interested in what Ward 5 could get out of it. A neighboring ward, or the District as a whole seemed of no concern. While some local boosterism is expected, the tenor of it was surprising to the editor.
The editor is still at a loss, however, as to how Junior managed to party that hard in Ward 5. It seems so quietly residential.
