The editor has mentioned car alarms before. It's one thing to have one go off at 2pm and then stop after tem minutes or so.
It's quite another to have one start at 2pm and not go off until 3:30 pm. Here's the denouement:

The editor does not recognize the uniform, but that probably means that he doesn't get out enough. The young lady did seem embarassed.
