My OperaParking Problem?

The Editor's Wife comes in from puttering outdoors about noon on Saturday and asks if the editor had seen the "No parking" posters in front of the Whitman, the whole half block. The editor said "no" and asked what for. The Editor's Wife said "The AIDS Conference".
Talk about disbelief and feelings of betrayal. The editor always thought that the Convention Center would work with, or at least warn, the community when what the CC was doing would affect the local community. Certainly CC folks are most accommodating on the inaugural events every four years.
So he checked Theresa DuBois' email broadcast, which has:
Please be advised that there is the potential for a large midday protest on the exterior of the Convention Center on Tuesday, July 24, 2012. Anticipate some disruption of normal pedestrian and vehicular traffic patterns during this time.
There are no street closures or parking restrictions at this time. However, this is subject to change without notice.
Events DC has contacted the appropriate District agencies for additional traffic monitoring and enforcement of parking regulations in the area surrounding the Convention Center. You may expect very heavy WMATA bus/rail activity and taxi demand. Also anticipate much greater than usual pedestrian activity in the surrounding area.
As always, we appreciate your patience and understanding. Please join us in welcoming the XIX International Aids Conference to our community.
"Parking restrictions" usually mean part of Ninth Street, the 1000 or 1100 blocks.
So the editor guesses someone with the posters put them wherever they thought would be useful. Mayor's Office? Since it's not Fenty, who knows. AIDS Conference organizers? Perhaps. At any rate, the editor goes over Sunday AM w/camera to post screed w/photos here.
No posters.
So, either someone thought better of it or those vigilante/Tea Party types take them down. Maybe it will never be known. Or maybe they will reappear on the next working day. Stay tuned.
