Blagden Alley and Naylor Court Annual Picnic (2008)

August 23, 2008. The signs go up. You can hear the normal tuning-up in the orchestra pit as the show is about to start.

Tom Bell, Guest House, ties one on.

Free beer from Old Dominion is nice. Thank you Hanny.
Raspberry Summer Ale. Sounds strznge, but it is really good on a hot day.

Someone has to taste it first.

The Check In Team sets up.

Michel (Verdun, Le Bistro du Coin) brings goodies.

Children tour the alleys.

Alley historian Michael Herlong checks in.
Note here:
He's doing walking tours of both Naylor Court and Blagden Alley September 20 and 21, from Noon to 2:00pm. Meet at Ninth and N.

Alem and Simaret Abebe (owners of The First Cup, Formerly Breakwells, at Ninth and M) stop by.

Roger Thiel is always there. An alley dweller (OK, Naylor Court) from long ago.

Mike Nelson and Mike Benardo, former and current ANC 2F06 Commissioners.

The ladies who picnic

and the children who picnic.

Colleen and Lt. Mike Smith, who was the Guest of Honor, but didn't know it at the time

Turns out, by resolution of the City Council, it's Lt. Mike Smith Day. (August 23, 2008)

Councilmember Jack Evans reads the Anouncement, wherein the Coucil declares August 23, 2008, Lt. Michael Smith Say.

The obligatory photo of two good guys.
