Yet Another Power Outage. 10:00am, November 26, 2008.
Traffic lights out at Ninth and M, Ninth and L, Eleventh and M, but not Tenth and M. Most residences (and Whitman) out on the 900 block of M, but not Mount Vernon Plaza. Call it an hour and twenty minutes.
Given the many (OK, seems like every few months) recent (outages, one learns that not all residences on the 900 block of M Street are on the same circuit from the distribution station at Tenth and L, so some people may not have had a problem. It's easier to tell on a Summer's evening, of course, when everyone is out on the sidewalk comparing stories. When Paul and Suzanne Abersold lived at 937 N, where the Zirkles are now, a bunch of folks were there for Thanksgiving. All the non-turkey cooking was finished and Suzanne went to check on the turkey. Stone cold. The back of the house was on a separate circuit from most of the rest of the house, and that circuit was down for a few hours.
Just think, if Pepco pulls this stunt when the inaugural festivities are in bloom, they can make the national news. But it is courteous of them to do it at the top of the hour.
