DC Drivers and Snow

You can stop laughing now.
Actually, while the editor learned to drive in Colorado, snow and all, most folks here haven't. They are quite uncomfortable in snow. But snow isn't the big problem. Traffic is.
If you add two feet more than normal because of snow or rain in our rush hour, you're going to get traffic jams. And accidents. We are at capacity for dry weather around here twice a day, five days a week. Since he doesn't have to commute anymore, it's not the hassle it used to be for him. For a lot of people it still is.
Street Clearing
Everyone recalls The Mayor (that's Marion) saying "It will melt" a few winters ago. He took some heat for that. But Colorado does the same thing on many of it's roads. One of those roads is here. At some point in the the year, Wolf Creek Pass is just handed over to the elements and left until next April, or so. That's US 50, a major connector. It's also discussed here, and sung about here, by C. W. McCall. If you've ever driven down it (the fun direction), it's an hilarious song.
We've got our first snow. Let's just enjoy it and pray for more.
