People are Checking You Out

One of the interesting things about the Opera blog software is that they give the last 25+ accesses to the blog, including the referrer page. So when someone googles, say "John Smith", the referrer page includes that. (When you google something, you'll note the "address"/url window included, perhaps cryptically to the uninitiated, your query. That's your "referrer page" to the receiving page, in this case the blog and blog traffic analyzer.
What the editor is saying, is that he is totally surprized at how many people he knows have been googled by name. Since these people are mentioned in the blog, Google presents them. The googler checks the blog, and the analyzer catches the query. Fascinating.
And, yes, the local friendly HTTP object probably refers to it as the "referer" page. Historically, it probably began with a unix type. That might explain it.
