Blagden Alley and Naylor Court Jesting

Blagden Alley and Naylor Court Annual Picnic

If it's late August, or early September, it's the Picnic. Happens every year. It's a moveable feast, having been recently in Naylor Court and this year in Blagden Alley, courtesy of the Longview Gallery.

The usual suspects, with Association President Richard Neidich leading the way. Even cooking. The food that is, not the books. No future in politics for him.

Gatekeeper Sherri, ANC 2F06 Mike.

Drew H. writes: I wish I had heard about this event as I would have liked to attend. I live in a townhouse on 10th St., with a garage that opens into Blagden Alley, but I didn't see any notices posted in the neighborhood. I read most of the neighborhood blogs but didn't see anything there about the event. Could you please let me know if there is a blog I am missing? Thanks.

This one mentioned it a few days ago.
Write

to get on the Association mailing list. There is also
a Christmas party every year.

I should post a bit more consistently, too.

Anonymous writes: off topic.... Ah, nothing like your local friendly alcohol peddler.... This morning, I bought two bottles of grappa of a group of six, that were behind the counter of Modern Liquors..... out of public sight. I went into the store, looking for grappa and after being told they didn't have any, an old stash -supposedly a left over from the previous owner- materialized, complete with a serving tray. The clerk, very friendly, told me that he could sell them to me, at about 20 dollars a piece, because he didn't know much about grappa. I agreed, and purchased two. I liked it. I went back a few minutes ago.... to purchase some for a friend with the intention of buying the rest of the stash. The clerk, all smiles, told me that they were 1972 vintage bottles, and that "the owner" had changed his mind, and that he would be willing to part with them for SIXTY DOLLARS A PIECE. I said "no way"! I don't know what the real vintage is since no information was readily available. My wife said that Ornellaia (one of the best brands of the stuff) goes for 30 dollars a bottle, and suddenly the clerk was reluctantly willing to sell them for 40 dollars a piece. Is it the owner's mind or the clerk's mind? We won't be going back any time soon. They can have all their grappa.

Linda writes: sort of on topic.... is there a neighborhood email group that we can post to with things like give-aways, information sharing, socializing, and the like. I'd like to ask the neighbors if they are interested in a nanny share or would like a free stroller, but don't know where to post such a thing.
