Repaving of 11th Street, NW
Work Begins Tonight; Two Way Traffic Will Be Maintained
(Washington, D.C.) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is scheduled to resurface the roadway on 11th Street, NW, from L to O Streets, starting at 7 pm tonight, Friday, April 2, 2010.
Crews will begin tonight with paving work at the intersection of 11th Street and Massachusetts Avenue. That work is expected to be completed by 5 pm on Saturday, April 3.
The paving of the rest of 11th Street, between L and O Streets, will be completed next week. Crews are expected to work from 7 am to 7 pm on Monday, April 5; Tuesday, April 6; and Wednesday, April 7. Permanent line striping on the newly resurfaced road will be conducted late next week or the following week.
Every effort will be made to minimize the impact on the community. Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times, but motorists should pay attention to the posted signs and be prepared for lane shifts during the project.
The 11th Street Streetscape Project began in the fall of 2008 and includes sidewalk, street lighting, intersection and signal improvements, the reconstruction of the roadway, and enhancements to traffic operations, pedestrian amenities, and safety improvements.
The editor is quite happy. But he is not sure the Snow Gods should be tempted this way so early in the year.
