Historical District Leads to What?

The editor came across an article in the City Journal. If he reads it correctly, it means that Shaw, being declared an historic district, will have higher real estate prices and "gentrify" faster than otherwise. He might have missed something, however.

Mari writes: I must have skimmed this article a while ago but the basic idea is that more restrictive housing regulation, including but not limited to Historic Districts, increase the price/cost of housing. You'd get the same thing with laws preventing suburban sprawl.

That sounds like many of Thomas Sowell's columns, especially about California. The City Journal thing just seems more quantitative.
