Blagden Alley and Naylor Court Jesting

More Blackouts Than the Saint Louis Rams

We had a blackouts last Saturday and last Sunday. The one Saturday was from 8:00pm to 11:30pm. It covered most of the Blagden Alley area, with the exception of the interior street lights in Blagden Alley. And yes, it included the Whitman, but they have their own generator, so you might not think so.

Here's a look up M Street:

You'll notice the left side of off, and the right side (east) is on. The Convention Center has a different circuit, and perhaps different power substation from the rest of us on its west side.

Sunday night, at 8:00pm the power went out again. Here is the traffic light on the northwest of the Ninth and M Street intersection.

This one lasted about 10 minutes.

The fact that they began at about the same time is interesting, but Pepco, they say nuttin'. Saves on salaries for those notoriously high-priced PR flacks.

With construction for the Convention Center Hotel (the editor is not saying "new" since we never had an old one) beginning in a month, we should get used to blackouts. Don't forget to stock up on batteries!

One side note from last night is that did yield an interesting view of the Whitman at sunset:
