My OperaSewer Work on M Street

Usually when one sees those "No Parking, Utility work the week of ..." they mean everyone still parks there, rains come and delay work, and work commences a week or two later, if not next fiscal year because the crew has an urgent need elsewhere.
Not so last week. The notices went up the week before, the equipment was in place by Tuesday, and they were done by Thursday. Nice.
The first morning, we had everyone's attention, at least to the NY Times which the they bring along for such situations:
When work began for the day, they got right to it. The sidewalk along M Street looked like this
for a couple of days, instead of like this a few weeks ago.
