Blagden Alley and Naylor Court Jesting

Annual Blagden Alley and Naylor Court Picnic

It’s the Annual
Blagden Alley and Naylor Court
Summer Get-Together

Where: Deep in the heart of historical (it really is) Naylor Court. (South Side of 900 Block of O Street, NW. Middle of block. You'll see it.)

The obligatory map. Now you have no excuses.

When: Saturday, August 23, 2008, from 6:00 to 9:00pm. (Adult Kool-Aid at about 6:00)

What: Hot dogs, soft drinks, hamburgers, veggiburgers for the herbivores, various potables and
Pot Luck: Please bring your favorite side dish or desserts (we get lots of desserts) or something. But even if you don't, come anyway. (Note: Just bring your favorite. Don't ask what. It's worked for years.)

NOTE: LABEL (with your name and phone number) any of Grandma's heirlooms that you bring and want back.

What Else: Depending on the alley gods, several door prizes (awarded between 8:30pm and 9:00pm) and perhaps many a wandering politician. (There's an election in September.) And the Golden Brick.

What New: Historical (three year old) T-Shirts. Good quality. $15.00. (About 8 left, but we'll take orders for more).

How Much: Contributions welcome. $5.00? (We've had trouble getting enough dollar bills for change.) The intent is not to make money, but to cover basic food and drink. (We usually break about even.)

HELP!

What we do/don't need for the picnic:

Tables (Yes): We don't have enough tables this year (2008). Need 6-8 of those 6 footers.

Soft Drinks (No): We HAVE enough soft drinks to start a software company. (I.e. don't bring any.) Wine? Yes. Fancy yuppie beer? Sure.

Chairs (Yes): Could use some more chairs. Every year.

Cooks (Yes): For hamburgers, hotdogs. Have one, need maybe two more.(Part-time: An hour?).

A megaphone (Yes!).

Ice (Yes). When you come, just bring a bag of ice from your icebox.

Setup/Other Help: If you can help for an hour or two, please show up a couple of hours early. It will make a difference.

Remember: You have Sunday to recover.
