Presidential Inaugural Activities – Public Meeting
Please be advised that the 56th Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC) anticipates that it may host inaugural activities at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center on Tuesday, January 20, 2009. This national special security event (NSSE) will result in road closures, parking restrictions, and changes in traffic patterns in the areas immediately surrounding the convention center.
Please plan to attend the regular meeting of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Patrol Service Area (PSA) 308 (the PSA around the convention center) to learn about potential community impacts during and/or in preparation for the inaugural activities at the convention center. Representatives from U.S. Secret Service and MPD will be present to brief residents, business proprietors and others who may be affected.

While the editor occasionally tries to take the mickey of the upcoming inaugural security "thing" (seems like a good word), it is actually quite serious. He has no idea how serious.
Many moons ago, he worked with the Secret Service on some computer matters. They are great guys, but when it comes to Presidential security, or security in general, there is no sense of humor. And they are about the smartest and best in the Federal Government on such matters.
