Two Things

There are two things that you probably already know:
O Street Market Groundbreaking:
Yes. Finally. Actually. September 1, 3-5pm. Corner of Seventh and O.
Technically, it's "The CityMarket at O". The full description is here.
This is a really big deal, and suggests that waiting for the proper development, as opposed to supporting something not quite right ten years earlier can actually work.
The editor and wife used to shop in the "O Street Market", so that's how they think of it.
Just as with Jemal's "Exchange". at Ninth and N, which has the Independence Bank on the ground floor. That was a (barely) working Fish Market when the editor moved in. And for many years after its demise the odor reminded one of its history, and of the story that when the great lexicographer Dr Johnson was told by a lady that he smelled, he replied "No, madam: you smell; I stink."
The Annual Blagden Alley and Naylor Court Picnic
This Saturday, 6:00-8:30pm in Blagden Alley. The official notice here. A contribution would be appreciated. It's mostly pot luck, and bring your favorite salad, dessert, main dish, whatever. Even a six pack of yuppie beer. There are no chairs supplied. Please bring some.
Oh, yes. There will be politicians. You can talk with them, just like real people.
