Stress and Smoking

Some family came and stayed at my house last weekend. It was quite the treat and quite stressful at the same time. It was my mother and three younger brothers. I have a 3 year old and he loved hanging out with my younger brothers, 11 and 16. There were times during the days over the weekend that I felt like breaking down and locking myself in a closet because of the stress; I wanted a cigarette so bad it really hurt. I felt like my lungs actually hurt for the wanting of a cigarette. I didn't give in though. Looking back, I only remember the good moments we had together.

No cigarette still.

I am not having dreams of smoking anymore. I've gained 20lbs since I quit. I have no desire to start again. My breathing is noticeably better and I have more wind to run.

I'm still not getting out with friends. I'm spending more time at home that I would like. It's time to get out again; I think I'm ready.

I'm not online anymore.

:yikes: I still have not had a cigarette. It's really hurt my social life. I don't get out like anymore like I was; it's the last thing that I would have thought was going to happen!

I think I'm getting an alergy to cigarette smoke; my nose starts running and I sneeze some times when around it.

I am working more than I ever and taking time for myself more. I've been playing paint ball lately and even went as far as to buy a paintball gun. Although, it is very hot outside to play, I like to get out and shoot and get shot at and not die.

I changed careers lately too. I did IT work for a very very long time, 10 years; my entire working career. Now I go to court houses and research history on property ownership. I look back at deeds created in 1800's. The pen-men-ship is easy to read.

Still have not smoked

I haven't had a cigarette since March 30, 2008.

I've been dreaming of smoking. I don't have a physical urge anymore - I do still want one and don't want one at the same time; just like when I was smoking.

Stopped smoking

I still haven't had a cigarette.

It's pretty amazing. At times when I was smoking, I thought that I'd never quit because I liked it so much.

I guess 15 years of smoking was the magic number for me.

Quit Smoking Cold Turkey

Haven't posted in a while for several reasons I won't get into, but I'm experiencing a loss in my life now and have to write about it.

We're gathered here to mourn today the passing of a part of my life.........tobacco, I met the plant in rolled and smokable form over fifteen years ago, befriended it as if it was a conscious individual. As we do with our conscious friends... if we discover and come to a deep disagreement, divorces occur. In my divorce from the cigarette, I get my life and the cigarette gets to live in another smoker's life. Also, any life that the cigarette has taken, is kept by the cigarette, unless my body decides to sue......

I've smoked cigarettes for the past fifteen or so years. I'm thirty this year and started smoking everyday beginning when I was fifteen, and smoked some before but not everyday. I did take three months off from smoking when going through boot camp but then started right back up (2004). I've thought about quitting ever since I started but couldn't bring myself to it.

For the past three years I've smoked Natural American Spirits cigarettes (http://www.nascigs.com/). I went to their site to get a coupon this past Sunday afternoon. After signing up, I noticed a link titled "Quit Smoking". A page with the following information appeared:

AWESOME! It was if someone just gave me a for sure guide to quit smoking! The above site's contain all the information needed to quit smoking! One link that is missing here but got me really going was found on one of the above pages; it is http://www.whyquit.com.

I smoked my last cigarette at 11pm CST March 30, 2008. Currently, it has been 71 hours and 15 minutes since I last had a cigarette.

The first day, Monday, I was shaking all day. I went to McDonald's and dropped my tray with hamburger, fries and coke all over the floor; although it was cleaned in less than a minute, I felt like my world began to cave around me.

By Tuesday evening, I was feeling like I had seriously lost a close family member or a friend. Good grief, I teared up.

I've been living the past three days feeling as though I am starving. Withdrawals are terrible and I know if I don't get through it, I will have to go through it again in the future.

I used to love smoking, really love it, it's so sad it's so harmful, or else I wouldn't kick it to the curb like this... :frown:

My sister in-law drew some pictures and I thought I'd share them here.

I'll try to add a new one each day until through all of them.
