It's a funny thing how kids are taught concepts of how and why to be polite and when they grow up, they (we) enter realms where the concepts are non-existent and self realm specific. For example, it may be appropriate to gossip and rumor inappropriate behavior in a certain realm - the confusing part comes in to recognizing the realm your in and the globally accepted behavior. This is where the clicks come in; groups of individuals that determine that it's ok for them to do certain things but is is not ok for another to. The change in the rules from one realm to another can have severe adverse affects on psychological growth and stability. Although that I don't think it will change, it is upsetting coming to a conclusion that some things have to be done to get ahead that will require an explanation at a later date; however, those things that are accomplished with blatant unfair practices are the most disturbing of all. However, what is taught to be fair in a family situation could never be compared to what is really fair in a professional environment. It is equally difficult to learn either one and twice as difficult to learn both. I think those with hindered emotional growth usually have the most difficult time adjusting.

On another subject, I often have a hard time not thinking about how to solve world issues going on, and going through school and studying humanities and cultures did not help suppress these thoughts any. Although I like thinking about how certain world issues could be solved, they do not help with my immediate needs to have a good relaxing time with family and friends.

This brings me to thinking about various cultures that instill unfair practices such as what Latin America refers to as Machismo. Furthermore, with regard to the realm that one is introduced into, solving worldly issues, and the fact that I live in Texas, I find the aspect of illegal aliens intriguing. I consider myself Hispanic; however, I never became fluent in the languages, I often wish I would. I know it's not too late, but don't think it should be required.. With regard to living in Texas, I was recently informed that Hispanic is now the majority. I have mixed emotions with this. On a positive note, the workforce ethic seems to be stronger; however, I think this is because the pay wages are smaller and more work is required by the individual Latino for survival. On a negative note, I do not appreciate having to be forced to cater to the non-native language. Furthermore, businesses cater to the non-native languages because it statically brings profits. I can understand the need if the business is operating in another country where the language is native, all the power to them. However, how does a realm where the native language collides with another native language give way to equal opportunity? I don't think it does or ever could unless the two separate languages were mandated for learning from the beginning - where in some elementary, that is being enforced. Although learning two languages would be cool, I do not agree with the train of thought that it should be mandatory. For one, this train of thought devalues those individuals that persevere to learn further languages.

The following shows some situations that I personnally find disturbing due to my apparent misunderstanding of fairness:
I do not appreciate flipping through cable television that I pay for in a native English speaking country and having to filter through non-native speaking shows. I do not appreciate having to choose option 1 for English and 2 for Spanish on the telephone when calling any customer service. I do not appreciate having to turn the container around for every product I purchase to read the language that I understand. I do not appreciate that the native language is not required for citizenship. I do not appreciate the loss of job opportunities available. I do not appreciate being taught fundamental laws of respect, of what is legal or not, what was previously faught for, and then being trampled on by a majority that has a different culture understanding. I do not appreciate the guilt trip that is imposed by those that have lived through tough realms and preach of difficult times in certain realms to bring upon emotional thoughts (close to what I'm doing now) for swaying agreement. I do not appreciate the road rage and especially by someone that is illegal. I do not appreciate having to pay for those that do not pay. I do not appreciate that there is not a reinforced central goal other than to make a bunch of money and live on a beach somewhere - ok, so there is different reinforcement, I just have to be more open-minded to see it.

Analysis of Women’s Roles in Culture

The following documentation shows the concepts of "Machismo" and "Marianismo." Furthermore, a discussion of the similarities and differences in Latin American women’s roles are compared from past to present. In detail, specific analysis shows what has brought about change. Lastly, comparisons of women’s roles in Latin America are made with other countries to include the United States.

Masculinity is the most often referred to when discussions appear with the subject of machismo. In detail, the Spanish origin word machismo indicates excessive masculinity behavior displayed. Although excessive male behavior is most often to appear in negative contexts, machismo is sometimes used instead of the word “courageous” or “valorous.” Furthermore, those that believe that they are machismo often believe in a fundamental superiority of men over women. In regards to negative connotations derived, data shows acts of domestic violence are committed by men that consider themselves to be machismo. (Machismo)

In contrast, the word “Marianismo” is often referred to beliefs of a fundamental superiority of women over men. Supposedly, Marianismo derives meaning from the beliefs by the Catholic with regard to the Virgin Mary (Maria) as both a virgin and a Madonna. In detail, it is thought that women should be spiritually perfect and always giving because of the title of Mother of God given to the Virgin Mary. (Marianismo)

Ever wonder where they get all their energy? Yesterday I heard someone say that they get it from their parents. I think this is true to a large extent in many different ways. For one, hyper or depressed moods tend to rub off on one another sometimes and especially for kids that don't know how to completly interpret and respond to various moods. Second, the food that is shared tends to spark different energy and mood levels.

Lastly, I watched a segment on 20/20 last night that was distrubing to me. It was about a caller that acted like an investigator on the phone but was acutally a sexual predator.
