Internet TV-my personal coming to terms and accepting

I don't know about you, but I am pretty darn impressed with technology now days. I am a child of the 80s, which was by no means lacking, but we did only have local channels, no remote, no VCR, much less a DVD player, no gaming console, no computer, laptops did not exist. I watched my few favorite shows on the 3 channels that came in the best. At some point my parents came home with a big box computer that had the green screen and all. They probably picked it up a the swap meet. My step-brother was more into it and hogged it all the time playing some game on it. I had more important things to do. I had cassette tapes and would wait patiently for hours by the radio to hear the song I wanted to record on my blank tape to make one of my famous mix tapes. I always thought I made great dancing tapes. There was a serious art on hitting record at just the right moment and to stop recording so you didn't have too much of the DJ in there or the beginning of the next song.
Heck! I only had and listened to cassette tapes well into the 90s. I sort of thought CDs were going to be one of those passing media formats, like those Laser Discs. Remember those? A boyfriend of mine, a total equipment geek, kept telling me the Laser Discs were the wave of the future. We could only watch movies if they were on Laser Disc and we would spend hours searching for rental stores that carried a decent selection or any selection!
Anyway, I digress....
My point is, it took years to go from 8-track to albums, then even longer to go from albums to cassette tapes. Cassette tapes had a long run before being taken over by CDs. CDs are still a favorite format. But then everyone got a computer, started downloading music, to make Mix CDs, of course, and then the Ipods, MP3 players, etc were introduced. Which I still struggle with using.
So I guess it should be no surprise that the history of TV is not so much different and has made even a faster journey to our computers. I mean we did have music, albums and etc long before we had radios, TVs and movies. Music has always been such an integral part of humans. Our human nature, it gives us passion, laughter, anger, sorrow, sympathy, empathy, carries us into battles, introduces us to movies, brings people together. And now we can even listen to music from our computers.
So this whole Internet TV thing is a good thing, right? Yes, I think it is. Why not have everything that entertains us, makes us feel, lets us escape, on one machine. Brilliant!!
Now I just need to figure out how to use it...Ah! Ha! Another bonus of my total equipment geek husband!!
