Heathrow is known to be one of the busiest airports in Britain because many travelers are visiting the country every year. It is a very popular spot for international travelers and to people who will be adventuring abroad and they can also find plenty of accommodation at Heathrow Airport hotels because this airport is very close to the capital.
Actually, it is only hub airport of Britain, beside the fact that Heathrow is close to London, so it is very important in a lot of air journey. This simply means that this airport is part of air travel’s hub and spoke model, wherein the passengers will have to travel and move to places without direct flights by changing planes to complete their destination or they can go to the “spoke” before they arrive at their next “hub”.
In the year 2009, there are almost 65.9 million people who arrived and departed through Heathrow. About one third of these people will travel to visit their friends and family, one third will be traveling due to business and the rest will be traveling for leisure.
More space is needed in order to look after the planes that will be used for travelling as well as the people that will be brought to their destination. It has approximately 1227 hectares of land with plans to expand in the future. However, the people around the area as well as the environmentalists may not be in favor of this plan.
The most famous destinations that people can visit if they will Britain via Heathrow are: Hong Kong (Business, Technology, Culture and Shopping), Amsterdam (I’m sure just for the Van Gogh Museum), Dubai (shopping, sun), Dublin (travelling home to Ireland, having a craic) and New York (shopping, food and culture).
If you are looking for a place where you can stay while you wait for your flight in Heathrow, you can try visiting hotels in Slough. The location of this hotel is close to Windsor, the place where Queen Elizabeth lives, and it also has many shops and restaurants.
