A day in the life of Chris Jordan

how long

I cannot remember even setting this blog up....

guess I need to start using it a bit more

up then down

Well we have been in the new house for 2 months.... The food we have been putting out for the birds is attracting all sorts of wildlife to the garden. We have finally managed to get on top of the weeding. Even sorted things enough to have a BBQ. All our stuff is moved in and found homes for...

moving on...

at last we have found a new house. It seemed daft paying rent on a house that we hated. Not enough space, at the top of 3 stories, no garden, expensive heating etc etc...

So a few weeks ago we started to look round for something new. 30 miles nearer to my works, 10 miles nearer to Lucy's and 20 miles closer to Imogens school we found a lovely 2 bed house, with a garden, a pond and all sorts, with a big conservatory on the back. Its in quite a rural location so no in the town noise and is only a mile or so from a major nature reserve. Well within biking distance. The site has just been bought by the RSPB.

We move next monday, so maybe offline for a bit while we sort out the internet and stuff.

The air show.

Duxford airshow at the weekend.. the WWII one.

Fantastic time listening to the old spits and lancasters flying about.. even a B17!!. Awesome day out and absolutely fab weather.

Yesterday was the exact 25th anniversary of the attack on Goose Green, Falkland Islands. They had a special fly past from some of the aircraft used at the time and some commentary from people that were there. It all concluded with a minutes silence from the crowd with a helicopter fly past. It was a bit of a moment to think back and remember the lost from that war. Not just because I was nearly one of them, but a bit of guilt as it has been a long time since I thought of them myself.

I will get the pictures online as soon as I can.

I am back at work now, complete with fracture, a promise of light duties has been made, but funnily enough just 2 days back and I am being asked to carry printers about... they are so full of shit.

I have applied for a couple of other jobs, one in Mexico and the other back in Lanzarote so maybe it will not be for long.

chocks away Biggles

For christmas I got Lucy a flying lesson.

It has been booked for sometime so it was impossible to know what the weather was going to be like. It rained early on, however just as we set off although a little windy it turned nice. No problems with arrival, a 20 minute wait and it was Lucy's turn. Basically a "this is the propeller end and this is the door" sort of briefing and the next thing we are trundling down the runway. All was fine till we got into the air....

a light breeze on the ground is not the same when your airbourne in something that weighs a few pounds. How we both stopped ourselves being sick is beyond us. It was however much fun, and Lucy enjoyed the experience.

taking a break from work..

I slipped at work today trying to open a door while carrying a large printer. Despite asking for a trolley a number of times over the last few months and being constantly fobbed off.

The result is a fractured left arm, and a few weeks off work. My companies reaction.... I am not getting paid sick pay as although it was an industrial accident caused by their inaction in supplying me with saftey equipment, I have not finished my probation so do not qualify for pay... typical of a penny pinching company that wonders why it has such a high turn over of staff. I was speaking to someone there the other day who tells me they have not had a pay rise for 3 years.. so in reality with inflation they are doing the same job for a £1000 a year less. Stupid thing is it costs thousands to replace and retrain a replacement but they are so short sited they only see the immediate problems.

Almost everyone I have spoken to their is looking for another job. Guess I will not be there long.
