After his online debut-album “Vergangenheit und Gegenwart” wich received very good reviews - released at www.lichttaufe.de - follows his first official CD release on ART-KONKRET. The Goddess of hunting and of the winter in the germanic mythology is Skadi. So the CD starts with cold and mystical soundscapes, followed by rituell percussive elements. Skadi creates a dark athmosphere with chants, dark dronings, strings, natural sounds but also with percussions and bells. Because of this SKADI is an interesting mixture of various dark ambient soundscapes.

The project is attractive in its diversified parts. Similarities to projects like Sephiroth respectively Ulf Söderberg, Triarii or Vinterriket can be noticed, without being another copy of them. Opposingly to many monotonous dark ambient projects - which only well disposed listener will be able to differ one track from another, SKADI appears as a catchy project by its rhythmic and melodical elements with Tune Wedgie character. Eliwagar is the soundtrack for the forthcoming cold wintertimes.

NEUN WELTEN are devoted to a kind of nature-mystical folk music modelled on the melancholic, emotional melodies of Norse folklore. Getting together for the first time around a campfire in the Thuringian woods in 2001, the band released their first offering, the CD-EP “Valg”, in 2004, a surprise success in the international Dark Folk scene.

Now, the band from Halle is presenting their first album that carries on where their CD-EP left off.

Northern mythology, from whose cosmology the band name originates, and the nature of NEUN WELTEN’s central-German homeland are two major influences on the music of the quintet. “It’s often places or their atmospheres one of us experienced that inspire our songs,” the band remarks on the creation of their tracks. “Sometimes, though, it’s the other way round -- we write a song, and then, after the fact, we sense and feel to which places this music takes you. In any case, nature is an integral component of our music.”

As its title implies (English: “Forgotten paths”), NEUN WELTEN’s debut album portrays the way on paths that seemed forgotten for a long time, passing, with wandering gaze, the mighty mountains and their barren rocks, endless misty scopes and deep dark woods, where the paths lead to Midsummer where the way finds a new and hopeful beginning.
