Dead Man's Hill has been brewing and gaining strength in the dark underground of the Belgium Death Industrial scene since 1998. With Lakes of Sacrifice, his best cd release to date.

Dead Man's Hill represents the pinnacle of the Death Industrial scene,offering a brilliant blend of militaristic drums, epic orchestrations,and dark sensibilities. Tired of computer constructed sounds? Bored of standard beats? Had enough of bands following simplistic formulas,conforming themselves to be clones of the newest trend? Dead Man's Hill defies these limitations, with a sound that is both classic and renewed; a sound that crosses, combines, and surpasses the subgenres,resulting in a tour de force of Industrial, Gothic, Neo-Classical and
Neo-folk. Lakes of Sacrifice is a powerful entity with a horror movie soundtrack feel; it is classic Industrial in the old school way, yet will surprise and reveal something new to the listening audience.

The disc features the incredibly powerful collaborative track "Sacrifice of Subscription" with spoken word artist it-clings and a remix of "Legions of Coldness" by Nick Gorman of Fractured. Mastered by famine.

The first 50 copies are accompanied by a bonus CDR that contains previously unreleased material.

Band - Phragments

The barbed wire on the cover betrays that this won’t be a peaceful release. And indeed, this cd-r by Phragments has a clear apocalyptic and martial atmosphere. It’s the first full-length album of this one-man project from Slovakia after some shorter attempts.

The eight tracks in general have a (synthetic) orchestral neoclassical approach, with pounding percussion and atmospheric synth layers underneath. The music is mostly instrumental, with a few speech samples and choirs added, notably on the ritual ‘Community-identity-stability’.

The sound on Homo Homini Lvpvs is quite bombastic and will appeal to lovers of the more orchestral Swedish acts. A track like ‘Pangean hymn’ is very heavy and militaristic. Other tracks sound more like oppressive industrial soundscapes, for example ‘The cogwheel turns’.

The musical style of Phragments is not entirely original, but I think the music is well executed. Some tracks are a bit monotonous, but overall this is a very enjoyable release which is limited to only 150 copies in special packaging.
