Autumn Goodbyes

Just as a sparkling jewel,
the sun hangs over the sky.
Casting it's glowing rays over the trees,
and amongst the yellowed autumn leaves.

And for a moment,
I swear I could see you dry your crying eyes.

For I heard you say:
"Love letters written in the sky,
Autumn leaves of red and coloured dyes.
Your whisper lingers even after love has died.
Autumn remains even after our silent goodbyes".

And before I could say a single word,
You turned around and left my side.
And beneath trees of red and coloured dyes,
you said your final goodbyes.

Your words still ring above the trees,
they whisper upon the rustling leaves,
It echoes your words, as I hear it say:

"Love letters written in the sky,
Autumn leaves of red and coloured dyes.
Your whisper lingers even after love has died.
Autumn remains even after our silent goodbyes".

Nice poem, I also like Autumn. Here in Europe we already have Spring, everything is green, and my garden looks like huge daisies field :wink:

You know, I usually don't watch people's blog, but my choice to watch yours is one of my fine choices. Can't say, but the picture makes my head spin with joy. I use opera mini and usually don't load images, so I caught your poem first. How can I put it- I haven't read something like that for a long time. YOU MAKE MY DAY. Umm, I like it. Autumn-like atmosphere although I have summer here. But what do you think about "...you said your final last goodbyes"?

Thanks for some interesting questions... :smile:

Well, when I used the phrase "final (last) goodbyes", I wasn't really writing from a specific experience in my life.

When it's Autumn, it feels as if nature is saying goodbye before it's long, wintery rest.
Which is why I wanted to write about two people saying goodbye - in line with Autumn's theme.

But, as you brought out, it's not simply "goodbye", but it's "final goodbyes"...
This time, it's truly the end of the romance.

The pictures? :smile:
I found them, about 4 years :eek: ago, on my computer at work. :smile:

I wish I knew exactly where it's from, but it's great to share it :smile:
