Mobile Gaps AS

Filling the gaps....

Keynote speak at Innovation Norway`s ICT Summit 12th of October 2009

Great day in Trondheim where I was invited by Innovation Norway to speak about my experiences in building mobile application business. It was a very senior and experienced audience that had a lot to learn others and we finished up the day learning about John M.Lerviks fantastic experience building and selling his company Fast to Microsoft. We started the day learning from the representatives from Innovation Norway’s field offices in Tokyo, Boston, San Francisco and London. Really valuable update about the market, culture and opportunities. Telenor continued the presentations talking about their unique success with the CPA platform and Telenor Playground. All in all, a valuable day to network and learn from VCs, mobile operators about how to get funded from and how to get distribution/technology support from Telenor. Here is my presentation/keynote speak from the event:

Filling the gap... the birth of Mobile Gaps AS

Hi, I am Inge Andre Sandvik, serial entrepreneur, innovation procovator, change agent amongst more....

Welcome to my company Mobile Gaps AS. I thought it was a good idea to keep my ventures and other investments in a company that I also can use as my own consultancy company. To do so, I needed a name that I felt was relevant to what I am actually doing in my everyday life. That is when I came up with the name Mobile Gaps….. For me creating new innovations is all about filling the gaps and my core focus are related around mobile and specifically applications, so then it had to be Mobile Gaps the new company should be called. 

My "baby" the last 3 years has been building up Mobile Nordic.(www.mobilenordic.com) I am proud of all the great feedback we have gotten in all the markets, the cool products we have made and the innovation awards we have gotten. I am also very pleased by that we have accomplish get global partners like Nokia, SonyEricsson on our team to get our directory search application out there.

Mobile Nordic is still of course my important focus area for me, but I have been so lucky to get highly competent people on board in Mobile Nordic that can take care of the day to day business operations. That gives me a great opportunity to focus on what I love and that is working on developing new innovations, creating strategies on how to go to market and getting the best partners with us on this quest.

My role in Mobile Nordic today is acting as a senior board advisor where I am working together with the CEO and the chairman of Mobile Nordic. I am also one of the biggest shareholders in the company and part of the board of directors.

Mobile Gaps vision is helping other companies create value by finding new or disruptive innovations. That is why I am also working for Opera Software trying to share my experience and ideas in this field.
This work is particular interesting because I get to work with a great team of highly intelligent, smart people and great products. Opera is probably one of the most innovative companies with growth potential that I know of. It is highly motivating to now spending my time to participate in this innovation process and contributing to new products that can impact millions of peoples digital life.

I will continue to keep this blog alive with relevant articles and thoughts about the ideas I want to Mobile Gaps to focus on. You must not hesitate to contact me if you want to discuss business ideas and opportunities where you think I can contribute.

Will your next laptop be powered by Google or Nokia?

, , , ...

Is Android and Symbian about OS for mobile phones or is Google really building the next generation OS for what we know today as PC`s?

I think it is a quite obvious move that Google is now launching a OS for mobile computing under the Android "phone" flag. Why should Google attack a market that is not going to be there in the future? I think the introduction of the Mini PC has proven this quite clear that the market as we know today as "laptop" is going to be quite different in the future.

We will soon see the first Mini PC`s with Android and Symbian OS......I cannot wait
