The feel of Opera's Desktop version of their browser really welcomes a user to use it. Basically, Opera Browser comes out with the best of user friendly interface. Opera has a wide area for your Webpages to load, friendly buttons to control your web surfing activity. So with this post, I am going to show you the basic interface of Opera.Head on to Opera's homepage to download the latest version of Opera.

Lets talk about the following:
  • Speedial
  • Address Bar
  • Tabs
and other goodies like
  • Opera Turbo
  • Opera Link
  • Opera Unite
and a bit of cool features like
  • Mouse Gestures
  • Voice Commands
These will be discuss through a three part post.

The Speed Dial
From Opera 9.20, Opera introduced the Speed dial feature. The blank page the opens when you opened a new tab is replaced by dials of your favorite websites. You can edit the dials to suit your preferred website. This will give you one click access to nine of your favorite website.

Later version of Opera (version 10 onwards) gives users the opportunity to more than nine websites. Also, the speed dial got a new twist, you can edit background of your speed dial with your picture, even go ahead to add extension to extend the ability of the speed dial. With my Opera, I have been able to add the Weather extension.

Address Bar
To access a webpage, all you have to do is type the name of the website inside the address bar field. Opera's address bar is located at the top as default. Opera's address field can also be used as a search field.   Typing a search item in the address will search for the item using Google. You can do online searching using key words. example of keywords include;

  • g for Google
  • b for Bing
  • z for Amazon
  • e for eBay
  • a for Ask.com
  • y for Yahoo
  • w for Wikipedia
For instance, to search for Ghana using Google, just type g Ghana. To search for Ghana on Wikipedia, type w Ghana in the address field and so on. Located on the address is the search bar.

Tabs
Opera, the most innovative browser is the first to introduced Tab since Opera 4. This version also introduced in built email client (but I won't be going over there). Introduced in the late 90s, Tabbed browsing  have become one of the useful feature in most browser. Tabs work by opening multiple pages in just one window. Opera Tab's feature is a bit different, with Opera tab, you get the chance to see a thumbnail version of webpages, control the size of the thumbnail.

Another great feature about Tabs in Opera is the ability to stack them up!. Yes! Click and drag any Tab on top of the other to "Stack em up"!. This means more space is given to the users for more Tab! Watch the YouTube Video below for more insight into Tabs.
