So much to tell

So spring had sprung in my last blog entry and A-LOT has happened since then.
I’ll start with the practicum experience. June 4th 2007 I began a 4 week practicum at a little school called Zao- Hirasawa Primary School, about a 1hr drive from my residence in Sendai. I was based primarily with G5 but on occasion moved to other grades to teach them different subjects. I’ve already finished the 30 odd page report so I’ll spare you the details, but it was certainly an eye opener to the teaching in Japan.
I call it an interesting experience, not an educational one and have taken fond memories of the children and good times.
I did a lot while there with Grade 5 including- Camp, Tea ceremonies, Traditional grass cutting days, and many other things, but I’ll save them for when I see you all next.
While doing Prac I had a chance to attend 'Dralion' Cirque du Soleil's latest asian production, the Ticket was a bit exy about 100AUD but it was worth every penny a truly amazing show- if ever given the opportunity to see please do.
Next- Hong Kong
At the start of last week a Canadian friend of mine and I took off to Hong Kong for a week- and that was pure awesomeness, we exited the Hong Kong Airport into a scorching 38° (quite a change from the normal 20’s in Japan) and swam to the bus stop in near 80% humidity. Yerghk
We spent about 4 days there in total in a hotel we were promised was a Deluxe Twin or something, let me just say if we were staying in the ‘deluxe’ I would not want to see the Economy but we paid about $15AUD a night, we had A/C and after an action packed day buying fake brand-name T-shirts and Rolexes we didn’t need much persuasion to fall asleep.
I ate about the best Indian I have ever had in my life- surprisingly there are very many Indian people in Hong Kong (and they were all trying to sell either suits or curry)
The last night we stayed with some mates from Oz Lyle and Carol-ann Ferguson which was brilliant because we got the opportunity to see the slightly out of town ‘local life’ and took pleasure in sampling the fine Hong Kong Cuisine like Chickens Feet and Goose intestines.
Mmm I know your mouths are watering.
We returned to a dull grey and overcast Japan and wanted little more than recuperation.
