What if Apple to buy Nintendo?

,

According to a message posted at Slashdot.org, CNET is running an article on its gossip column, Crave Talkabout the possibility of Nintendo takeover or partnership with Apple. It was started with the history of gaming in the Apple universe. Not a great one, that is. Apparently Apple once launched a game console called Pippin. Okay, at this point I'm already alarmed at the fact that I have never even heard about the mentioned console. Could such a product even exist? It's existance might just prove as elusive as the rest of the Hobbit community. Well, the article moves on to discuss about its current gaming situation, still not a fantastic one but here's the surprise. According to CNET's sister company, GameSpot, Apple is setting up a super secret game division.

This brings us to Apple - Nintendo comparison. Both brand boasts zealotous supporters, both are incredibly innovative and creative in their own field, and considered as a specialist. Apple in music and multimedia, and Nintendo in video games. The style of their products have recently converge up to the point where CNET says that 'the Nintendo DS Lite practically looks like Jonathan Ive built it'. Although the design style might just be a coincidence, nevertheless the thought of the two companies going together hand in had will produce what could be the Next Next Generation console and handheld device (iPod DS?).

We've already seen the advancement of both Microsoft XBOX and Sony PS towards what could be argued as a gaming PC. Sony PS3 is said to run Linux and boast multimedia capability to play music, dvd, etc. If Apple decided to compete in this front, Nintendo's expertise and philosophy could well be what they are looking for.

One more interesting point of discussion is how feasible is the idea of an iPod DS? imagine that you can use your DS to listen to music and play video. Then add iTunes combined with DS wifi capability to sell games online. This may sound nothing like Nintendo's philosophy of providing fun and affordable game console (game, game, game). However the trend seems to suggest that it is the way to go. And for one, I'm going against the naysayers and hope that this rumour will have at least some degree of truth.:D :D

Taking on Opera Mail client

, , ,

i'm sorry if the following message is unbelievably hard to read. It does need heavy editing, which I am unfortunately not feeling like doing at the moment. Please keep in mind that I am using yahoo.co.uk service, with pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk and smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk as server names and I'm using Opera 8.53.

These are things that I realised, and worry about straight after Opera mail downloaded my messages, and got them through the AVG antivirus:
  • Opera Mail only downloaded 200-ish mails, whereas I have archived 6000+ emails in my Yahoo account
  • it doesn't sort my mails into folders, as i have sorted it in yahoo
  • lots of spam! [panic attack....]
  • drag and drop 10 spam into spam folder. spam folder now has 10 mails. the 10 spams are still in the message list! why? further inspection: drag-and-dropping spam light up a little 'spam' label. (the 'spam' label is not immediately noticeable since i'm unfamiliar with it). to NOT view spam in 'Unread' and 'Received' folders, go to View>Show> and uncheck 'Show spam'
  • why does Opera Mail have an 'Outbox' folder, but not 'Inbox'? because 'Inbox' is too general, and unappropriate to use instead of 'Unread' and 'Received'.

was testing if blue message will turn up in Received, because I had mark everything as Read. Tried to send an email to self. Internal Error message appeared. Error 530 Authentification Required. How do I get round this one?

Meanwhile, i just realised that I can mark letters as read... try this one first. done, see the correction on Unread v Received.

back to Error 530. to quote Yahoo help page 'In an attempt to control unsolicited email (spam), some Internet service providers will block port 25. If you experience technical problems sending email, then you will need to use port 587 when sending via Yahoo!'s SMTP server'. Didn't work. Tried another port 578, stil not working. Found possible solution, Tools>Mail and chat accounts...> edit the email account and flip to tab 'Servers'. Use port 587 and request authentification. AUTH LOGIN and plaintext works whilst CRAM-MD5 doesn't.

I have figured out that Opera Mail only get mails from Inbox and Bulk. It does not get mails from filtered folders, like Birthdays and Job Alerts.

after all that, i am not sure whether i am going to use opera mail after all, or just keep on using yahoo web service. opera mail is great, but the web service frees up hard drive, got lots of archive, and had my filters set up. i will also be able to track my sent messages. i can have my mails anywhere, and its familiar to use.

A Fun Idea

I got this idea this morning to make a real life action/platforming game. it would be like a cross between paintballing and Takeshi's castle! There will be themed section like Megaman world, Crash Bandicoot land, and Gunstar Heroes universe! I think 2D platformer game works better though.

wake up

i need to get out me my bed (floor) and get a shower cos i should b at work in an hour?! but staying in while blogging Opera Mini is so cool, I'm gonna keep doing it at least until this post is done. Oh yeah, I saw at trustedreview.com that SE had released a 'downgrade' of W800i. It's called W700. It's the same phone with different colour and 256 MB mem stick instead of 512.

BLEEEUUURRGHHHH.......

I'm so bored!!!
Sick of job hunting, sick of browsing, sick of playing games, what's wrong with me? There's still food but I don't want to eat anymore! (Homer)
