Is constant monitoring by your lead on the work yo
I am not sure how many of you out there feel comfortable when every 15th minute you are pestered by your lead on the status of the work you are doing.
I kind of get irritated.
This is what happens with me daily.
8:30 AM - Check my mails. Sit with my lead for discussion on what is the priority work for the day and start working on that immediately.
8:45 AM - Start analyzing on what needs to be done and plan for the activities.
9:00 AM - Lead comes to your desk and asks..What is going on ??? To which most of the time I try to answer , I have started and I am doing my work.
If its once or twice that's OK but continuous questioning can irritate a person a lot especially if you are a developer and your lead is not in a position to even understand what kind of work is being done or how much complexity is involved.
Sadly that's what software industry is all about.
Even that is tolerable but when your lead answers sarcastically then that's too much.
If I am assigned a task that needs to completed by End of that day I would definitely work towards that. Developers will not be that careless and waste time.
I am trying very very hard to control my temper. I think one of the toughest things in the world is to control your emotions.
I have been in a lot of trouble because of my short temper even if it was genuine.
I have read in websites and newspapers that "start counting in reverse order i.e from 10 to 1 so that your anger can subside" . But I don't have the patience to count

Jonty Rhodes - The God of Catches
As a Kid, I was a great fan of Jonty Rhodes. I did not know what an LBW was or even most of the rules of Cricket
All I knew was to cheer for the team who hit fours / Sixes and fielded well.
Being an Indian I was a die hard fan of South African and Australian Cricket teams. Even If I Missed the matches I made sure that I watch the Highlights before going to school.
Till last year or So I did not know what is LBW.
I was very Upset because of Jonty's short Cricket Career.
I read a great comment on of the you tube videos of Jonty which was quoted as " 75% of earth is covered with water and rest 25% is covered by Jonty Rhodes" Which in my opinion is very True
However his catches and run outs will always remain in Memory.

What happened
This is one of the experiences which I will never forget and I will definitely LOL every time I remember this incident
Situation : I was not feeling well on one of the working days last week , Did not have much of work as I had managed to finish off all my work early enough.I was not feeling well because of neck pain again and I wanted to leave early.That day there was a team meeting scheduled after 7 pm .
This is how the Conversation went.
Me : Hello Sir , I am not feeling well I am done with my work . I need you permission to leave early from Office.
Manager : (Thinks) OK you can leave.( Yes , My joy knew no bounds
. Wow he accepted very fast. He changed a lot I thought Immediately he asked another question). When are you going to come back ??? We have meeting @ 7 today . I think you know that.
Me :(Puzzled at his response) Oh I forgot that.(After this I could not talk anymore and so left his cabin and came back to my Cubicle).
Finally , One of my senior team members convinced him and I was able to get away with that.
Moral of the Story : You can never judge a person in a second with a single sentence. People change their response very quickly.
PS: If he reads this he will hang me for sure
(Sorry sir , I am not offending you Just shared my experience as anyone reading this at least will smile for a second)

Where Even the Latest Cars Become taxis :)
I love Shillong (Meghalaya) not only because of its scenic beauty or because i am related to it some way . One more interesting aspect to add is...Here you will find all the latest cars turned into Taxis.
Normally when you hear the word TAXI the first image that comes into Everyone's mind is Ambassador with Black and Yellow combination or a FIAT Premier with Yellow and Black combination.
Shillong is a city where you will find almost all the latest cars converted to taxis. I am not talking about call taxis or tourism taxis here as those will have all types of cars. But here the Govt taxi takes all forms .
This is not new here and this practice has been going on for years now even before the Concept of TRAVELS came in.
You can find Maruti 800 to TATA Nano being used as TAXIS. Don't Believe it ???? See the embedded image of a TATA Nano to believe it
I took it when no one was around the car and also had to edit the number at the side of the CAR so that CAR details are not revealed.

Neck Pain
Neck pain on my left side coupled with shoulder pain has started again. I know i should not face such issues at this age
But what to do.
One of the days last week was really hectic. That time i had severe neck and shoulder pain because of which i was not able to concentrate on work. I desperately wanted a leave the next day to meet my family doctor and get some medication for my neck pain but my leave was turned down.
The response which i got was "Take it next week,But not this week".
I am OK with such kind of responses but Why would I visit the doctor some other day when there is no neck pain. Its very Simple , When You are thirsty Drink Water. When you are Hungry have food.
During that time I felt like "Why does Software Industry always have deadlines? And when it is having , Why is it that we have to complete it and deliver it that day or the immediate next day?"
I am trying to do some neck exercise so that it does not continue.
One of the primary reasons for my neck pain is because of the F3 key I believe.
I have to press F3 keys at least 500 times a day. I press it with my left hand finger. It might be because of that

Lessons which i learnt as a Software Professional
I have been going through a tough time for the past few days.
I work but still get complaints and I try to remain patient but still invite trouble.
Those who do not work at all do not face any one of the above which i mentioned.
Lessons which i learned through this bitter experience
Problem :
Don't be Outspoken ( Its an offense and since it is my natural character i get into trouble very often because of this).
People usually play safe when it comes to expressing their opinion as they don't want to hurt the managers.(or simply put don't want to get into trouble).
Solution :
Always talk at the back of people as others do.
As a kid i was taught to be Fearless and Outspoken. And also i have heard my parents saying that it is bad to talk at the back of people. If you have any issues just have a casual chat with the person and sort it out.
Talking at the back of people is also considered as sign of cowardice by me.
Right from software engineers to managers everyone is following this.
I hate it completely.
I was thinking of changing my character but after meeting all the coward people i feel that i am far better than them and i will continue to be the way I am .

Airtel 3G Street Dancer
I am going crazy after listening to it again and again...Probably the entire world is also doing the same
I am talking about the new composition by music maestro A.R.Rehman. I have always been fond of all his compositions. I am a great fan of Airtel Ring tones. I try to collect almost all forms of the Airtel Jingle.With the arrival of 3G services from Airtel,They have gone for a new logo plus a new airtel ringtone. Ever since i heard it i have been making as many people listen to it as possible. I have set it as my ringtone.
I know that its too late that i am discussing about it now but only now i got the time to discuss.
The new ringtone has an international feel to it thus having a global reach.

back again
Hi All,
its been almost 3 months or so ...I remember that i added a post some long time back. After that i should say that i did not have time as well as the mood to add a post to my blog..
Lot of things happened in my professional life which made me tired mentally as well as physically...
i have heard people saying that software industry is very tiring...
Now i understand the real meaning on how tiring it can be...
I sometimes feel that i could have done better in some other field...
I used to have mild neck pain but now i am kind of fine since i am away from my routine life of starring continuously at the computer....I am enjoying my vacation ...I am away from town and enjoying every minute of this peaceful life....
After recharging myself i am thinking of facing the usual hurdles of my professional life...
Nothing much to say as of now....Will get back with an interesting post next time...
