Depression dominates, but will not destroy

Surprise! It's time once again for - you guessed it - a bunch of boring, useless old quotes! Don't fret; I'll try to make it as painless as possible. Maybe I can switch up the format or add some humor, something like that. Tell you what, I'll run it by my people in accounting and legal, and get back to you as quickly as I can.
I would say that the following quotes pretty much run the gamut; there isn't a specific "theme," per se, though certain underlying patterns can be identified. As usual, I've also sprinkled in one or two curve balls just for good measure. Now, without further ado, on with the show...
"He conquers who endures." - Persius
"Memory feeds imagination." - Amy Tan
"Patience is the companion of wisdom." - St. Augustine
"Tearless grief bleeds inwardly." - Christian Nevell Bovee
"I am a part of all that I have met." - Alfred Lord Tennyson
"Few of us write great novels; all of us live them." - Mignon McLaughlin
"I ask not for a lighter burden, but for broader shoulders." - Jewish Proverb
"Nothing got without pains but an ill name and long nails." - Scottish Proverb
"Not until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves." - Henry David Thoreau
"The difference between fiction and reality? Fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy
"The walls we build around us to keep sadness out also keep out the joy." - Jim Rohn
"I know well what I am fleeing from but not what I am in search of." - Michel de Montaigne
"In times like these, it helps to recall that there have always been times like these." - Paul Harvey
"I have always thought the actions of men the best interpreters of their thoughts." - John Locke
"Death is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss is what dies inside us while we live." - Norman Cousins
"Using the power of decision gives you the capacity to get past any excuse to change any and every part of your life in an instant." - Anthony Robbins
"They who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night." - Edgar Allen Poe
"Nighttime is really the best time to work. All the ideas are there to be yours because everyone else is asleep." - Catherine O'Hara
"There are so many alcoholic writers because if you have to be face-to-face with yourself, it is best if one of you is drunk." - Fran Lebowitz
"It is one of the secrets of nature in its mood of mockery that fine weather lays heavier weight on the mind and hearts of the depressed and the inwardly tormented than does a really bad day with dark rain sniveling continuously and sympathetically from a dirty sky." - Muriel Spark
