Well, it seems like the end of summer is upon us. For many, schools are either back in session or soon beginning. For many religious September is the time when new assignments are the order of the day.
For the pioneers of this new blog, this September is the time we began using our new blog. And just this morning a new member was added to our group. His name is Brother John Mary Lugemwa, orginally from Uganda and presently a member of Mary, Mother of the Church Abbey in Richmond, Virginia, and studying at St John's Abbey in Collegeville.

Folks, to see how well this blog is working, I would like to generate our first discussion. Who will be invited to participate in the blog?
Do we admit only internationals, i.e., "minorities", or is it open to anyone who wishes to share the blog? What is the purpose of the blog?
Is it a vehicle of communication primarily for international Benedictine only or for members of other Orders also?

As we agreed at our first meeting, we shall attempt to forge a strong bond among us throughout the year, not just at ABA time. Peace, Allen.

Thanks for your updates Allen. Welcome to Brother John Mary Lugemwa.

The beginning of the Septmeber has been very busy already in our community here in Norfolk, NE. The Labor Day truly was a labor day for many of us here.

When I first heard of the 'international' group at ABA, I was expecting to see whoever was interested in the 'topic' matter. Therefore, I was surprised to see only the 'minorities' at the meeting. I would like to see not only internationals but whoever is willing to spend time and energy to understand 'other cultures.'

Hopefully, I would get to here more perspetives on this matter.
Peace, Sr. Jeremias

I just signed for an account. Thanks for setting up the blog. I hope we can use it to discuss issues of common interest. I will be back on here later.

Merry Christmas.

Br. John Mary

Ruth Gledhill is Religion Editor for The Times (UK). In an entry to her personal Blog she comments on recently published research concerning diversity and the number of internationals now attending services in the Catholic Church's parishes in England.
