Developer, Opera Portal, Engineering Services
I applied for an Opera internship in Engineer Services last summer. I actually didn't know what Engineer Services exactly meant, but since a long time I've been following some Opera projects and I knew that they were the ones that try to really create a standardized web as well as being not afraid about innovation in the browser field.
I started working mostly as a web developer for Opera Portal [http://portal.opera.com]. The project was planning a major release, a lot of interesting work to do ahead of us. Mainly the best part was the team work in the department, professionals willing to help you and give you more responsibilities with a linear progressions that allows you to grow as a professional. The general atmosphere for the company is great. Like myself, a lot of foreigners are working at Opera. Opera is very multicultural and I've always had a lot of support from all my colleagues and HR, and I still do. Opera has a great diversity of social activities during the summer and the whole year.
But nothing ended there, giving the great atmosphere and the chances to innovate I accepted a permanent offer after the internship. Now I'm continuing working for Portal and the challenges continue.
